  • I got beaten by sheer strength...

I have challenged a friend of mine to a wrestling match and he is like, 2 metres, 240 pounds or something. It's just a funny thing and none of us has any wrestling practice. We had a little preview of this match when we were drunk and tried it a little at a nightclub. It went like this: I tried a standing guilloutine, and he lifted me up in the air easily, using only his arms, and put me above his head like a weightlifter's pole, and slammed me in the CEILING several times. He let me get down to toy around a little more, and I avoided getting lifted by lowering my bodyweight and kinda "hung" on his arms. Then he leaned lightly on me, sending me down on my ass. I went for the armbar, and he just stood up with me hanging in his arm, looking like an idiot. Maybe I should actually train some moves and not rely on theoretical knowledge from the UFC tapes... Ah well, very pointless story, I just wanted to share it with you guys so maybe you can picture how hilarious it looked. Imagine a guy being slammed against the ceiling, I was the laugh of the evening...

A heel hook is when you put his toes in your armpit and pull on the heel with the crook of your arm.Keep his knee slightly bent.Look up BJJ techniques and start learning some moves off the internet. That way you have a slight idea what you will learn if you ever take formal instruction.

            Ryu:

What are you talking about!? I learned to grapple by watching the UFC's, and I am an AWESOME fighter!

Then again, I am naturally gifted, like Frank Shamrock.

              Right....

Ryu's right, of course, you won't learn to fight by watching UFC's!
You got to watch "Enter The Dragon" if you really want to learn how to fight!!!!!!

Yeah, follow Dans advice. And then when your friend turns an inch in the wrong direction and pops his knee, you can calmly teach him his mistake as he writhes in pain on the floor. Dan can even tell you how much the knee surgery will cost, so don't forget to give him that info as well!

By the way, this story proves that Bjj doesn't work in the real world.

NHB you can prevent him lifitng you next time by simply grabbing his foot closest to your head.

This is a good defense for a man lifting you during a triangle choke as well, and a basic technique if you practice Jiu-Jitsu in general.

While you are on your back in the armbar position, and you begin to feel him lifting you of the ground, take your hand, or the bend of your elbow, and hook it around his ankle or the base of his heel.

If he has already begun lifting you, then hook his ankle with the crook of your elbow to avoid taking flight.

But to prevent it otherwise, when you make an armbar attempt grab the person's ankle closest to your head and pull it outward. This will stretch their base, and force them to lose their balance. At the very least it will send them to one knee, and allow you to continue on with the submission.

That's all you need to know, and knowing is half the battle. (G.I. Joe and firends, Circa 1987)

I think NHB Spice isn't training though. That's what he said anyway. You have to at least get friends together and put effort into learning the moves, then applying them to resisting opponents. A good bet is to get some instructional tapes, maybe a dummy, and train the moves over and over and over. Use your imagination and drill.
Then bring over friends and roll to see what you need to work on, and how far your training is going.
If you have access to friends all the time, just roll everyday. (um..but please be careful)
