I am looking to take one of teh 3 but I am not sure what to take. I would to go to tournements but the kickboxing class is only a cardio which I don't care about that. Judo, is what I would like but I am also looking for self defense too, but again the place that teaches it hasn't been to a judo tournement in a long while. And BJJ I don't know much about and I think the only tournements they go to are tae-kwando ones. What should I do?

Question for all the BJJ students out there... How funny would it be if your school sent a competition team to a TKD tournament???

Extremely funny for the BJJ team, extremely painfull and humiliating
          for the TKD team

Like sending a SWAT team to subdue a rowdy pensioners bingo night.

Do the BJJ or Judo. Period! Both you can compete and good for Self D. If you want self defense, stay away from TKD.

True, some of them can use their canes and walking frames
                with devastating effect.
Reminds me of a story actually, when i happened to piss my grandmother
                off, she wouldn't attack instantly.
She would con me into bath time or change clothes etc,
pick her weapon (which would be a bike brake cable or a whip type branch)
wait for me to be near on naked, burst into the room and open a serious can of whipass on me.
Ahhhhh the good old days, bless her little cotton socks.
She's not dead yet (92) , thats why i'm still training

Yep, you hit the nail on the head there all right. I'd have to be the cockiest high school jock there is - even cockier that Gracilva. Although possibly I am the first 26yo female cocky high school jock.

Thanks for the quote from Kwai Chang Caine, you knob. Remember this, from Confuscious....."Remember the cocky jock. He can kick your cock around the clock. You tit".

If you like technical self-defense like hooks, sweeps, throws, locks, then go for BJJ. I do not know much about Judo but I believe it's more throws than anything else. Kickboxing can easily be added to either of these. The days I am not studying BJJ at the academy I am working out, practicing break-falls, alligators, and spider crawls. Then I practice Kickboxing punches, kicks, shadow doxing, and hit/kick the bag. It's easy to add this to my "off-days" of BJJ.
