4 weeks our = $200.00 airfare

I train 6 times a week, dude I'm always ready to compete. I'm just not going to waste my time going to Auckland for a comp with no one to compete against... Ken didn't know if he was competeing till 3 days before as there was no one to fight in his division. Imagine how pissed I'd be if I piad $400 and didn't compete or just fought one of my team mates.

I though he lived in AUS and moved to NZ just recently.
I thought he was going to be based in Auckland.

Wardancer - 2 things
1. as pointed out by fumanchu - you can't compare Ken being there (20 minutes down the road) to BJJNZ flyng up from wellington.

2. If you keep going down this track people may ask why your coach is not seen regularly in competition, unlike other black belts in the country. this is not to in any way disrespect your coach, but more to point out that for some, and especially coaches competing themselves must take a back seat to organising the club.

1. I understand about the money issue. So do you think we should not call our event the national open because of that?

2. Which other BJJ black belt have I seen competing recently in NZ? Pedro and Marcello at the 4 Open. Pedro has also been active in the Auckland Submision scene. Why Douglas does not compete? You got to ask him not me!

Fu that wasn't the case at the last tourney. Proper judo type mats (like the ones at GroundControl, but square rather than rectangular)

that would be good to see, would be just like all the other submission matchs you have done against Master Douglas's students. Except you would know he is 10kg heavier than you upfront, instead of them saying he was lighter and finding out on the day he is alot heavier.

To me, it sounds like you are not given enough notice prior competition and therefore it is NOT fair.

Thats the issue. Not enough time to book cheaper flights and accomadation!

Can you see the contradiction in your posts?

We have agreed an Open comp is a fantastic idea.

We want to compete.

We would like to be informed a few weeks before the comp is on.

Can you understand any of that??
