We had a meeting at my house last night to sort this out. I was there. BJJNZ was there, how come you weren't. Why do you refuse to sit down and talk about this with us?
Sounds silly doesn't it. Your thread title was about the BJJ comp in NZ but you raised some questions as to why certain clubs didn't attend. You raised questions as to why certain clubs affiliate through a blackbelt in australia rather than auckland. You have been given good answers to both questions but persist with your "my club is better than yours" attitude. You are starting to sound as if you're not at all interested in why other clubs operate the way they do, or in ways to bring the community closer, so much as you are in just promoting your club.
In terms of the tournament a couple of weeks ago and the lack of Machado clubs involved - lets just chalk that up to experience, agree that we'll organise it better next time and cut out this "my club is better than everyone elses" tone.
It is not about the club stuff, you should know better!
People talk and so be it!
But the sake of BJJ OPEN competition is a must.
If it means I promote the time and location in this forum and rub your ego the wrong way, so be it!
Cool as!
If BJJNZ did not have enought notice.
What happen to AKL rep?
no invite?
Good question, you tell me. Was Michael Gent invited? When did he receive details? I know Glen Tarrant didn't get an invite and only found out about it (belatedly) via an internet board, and his guys were already for a grading and training camp that weekend.

For gods sake. Let me break this down for you simply.
x NO ONE is saying an open tournament is a bad thing. EVERYONE agrees it is a good thing, and the more clubs involved he better.
x NO ONE is saying they have a problem with you promoting it on this forum.
What we are saying is that
1. to make the Open Tournament even better, lets make sure we get all the relevent information out to all the clubs at the right time to ensure maximum participation.
2. Douglas is running the tournament and that is to be applauded. But just because he runs it, and he is a black belt, and he comes from brazil, doesn't mean that every other club should switch their allegience to him.
If we can all agree on those two points, then we're on the same page and can call this somewhat heated discussion a success.

I take it you live in Auckland.
If so, where is your so called BJJ Team?
You come Strike Force?
And Douglas is a Black Belt in Brazilian JJ and your point is BJJ?
I do not belong to your org!
are you threatening me for my thread?
If you do not agree about it, just move on the net is big?
e.g get a life!
I mean this without any offense intended, but perhaps you should be reading this with a native english speaker alongside you. Because something is clearly getting lost in the translation. I have not threatened you and nor can I see how you could have inferred that I had.
You asked why the auckland clubs didn't show up. There are two auckland clubs affiliated to Will/Machado. I told you why Glen Tarrant and his students weren't there. I asked you if Michael Gent and his club were invited. You said you didn't know, so I said I will find out.
you are clearly reading something into my response that is not there.

Yes I live in Auckland.
I have no team, I'm a student. I train with a variety of people, some of them Machado/Will affiliated, some of them not (like strikeforce)
I don't know what your last sentance means.
Can we agree on the two points I posted above?

The thread is about AKL BJJ OPEN competition.
Before I started it, nothing about NZ.
The reason is to promote BJJ in NZ.
You take part or not: it is not my problem:
unless you plan to join the 80-90 KG and Open weight next time.
There is a circle of people that do organise such events.
You know who they are!
My job is to take part..
I promote because I love it!

I think BJJ credibility relies on performance and credential.
If you live around Auckland, do you think about joining a real BB team?
In my club, promotion in rank is based on performance and skills:
grading is forged in the heat of the battle.
We spend time doing open competition under BJJ rules.
We enter other submission fight tournaments.
I simply do not understand when other local teams that claims they do BJJ would not affiliate to a national BB.
