  • Where would we be today with out the Gracies?

Everyone seemed to be complaining how boring this forum had become so… Think about where martial arts would be and how you would be training if the Gracies hadn’t started this grappling revolution.

Thats true. I never would have incorporated counters against common BJJ holds if I hadnt seen the Gracies style.

I probably would have just kept at kickboxing.I'm glad the gracies showed the world what works and what doesn't.

Sitting around chatting about the best kickboxer around and how he was the best fighter in the world. Not realizing some skinny Brazillian kid could clock him in under a minute.

Yeah like look at Maurice Smith, he will never do any good in MMA. Dumb kickboxer.

            Shimora,

would you have grappled in a barrel w/ your instructor had it not been for the Gracies?

I would probably be up to 2nd or 3rd Dan now in my old style of karate, confident I could kick the ass of some skinny Brazilian dork in a judo-gi.

I'd still be struggling with my kata though.

                I always hated those!

I would probably saving a hige amount of money to buy a wing chun dummy on which pratice some real effective trapping and vertical fisting techniques, scorning boxers for "not knowing how to punch with real energy" and viewing wrestlers as the silliest dressed sportsmen in world...

                    Good question.

I'd still be wrestling and boxing - not knowing how to put someone in the guard, or applying an arm-bar, ankle-lock etc.

Actually, I always knew about the "full mount", and about pounding the hell out of your opponent in that position. The one thing I didn't know was that it was called the "mount". I used to just call it "getting on the guy, and pounding him senseless!

I've learned a great deal from the Gracie's, and hope to learn a great deal more.

I'd also still be watching point-karate, kickboxing and boxing matches (live & taped) without the knowledge I have obtained from the Gracie's.

                    Ronnie.

I would be fulfilling my Ninja fetish and talking about how I could defeat a skinny brazillian kid by sneaking up to him and using my deadly skills in which he would be impervious to.

That's right, all the Sakuraba worshippers would probably jerking off in front of Chuck Norris' poster by now.

As opposed to the poster of Ricky Martin in your bedroom Tiger?

If it wasn't for Royce Gracie, I wouldn't be doing anything special on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday night...

Also, since I'm a Sakuraba fan, I guess I'm a worshipper but I doubt I'd be jerking off in front of a Chuck Norris poster. Since I'm a man, and I like women and all...
