  • Tang Soo Do And WIng Chun

Well I've been doing wing chun for atleast a couple months and I've been thinking about taking Tang Soo Do or hapkido as well... I was just wondering if wing chun and tang soo do would be a good mix?

I personally would reccomend quitting wing chun and take tang soo do and hapkido. But if this is not an option I would take hapkido along with wing chun instead of tang soo do. Neither are a great combination. If you are going to take the time to study two arts I would reccomend taking a standup art and grappling. There is no reason to combine to standup arts.

Most martial arts can be a good mix. Just take the techniques that you have found to work from each and put them together.

i wouldn't do tang soo do. i would rather do wing chun and hapkido
but like someone else said, it's not to your greatest advantage to take 2 different striking arts at the same time. but it would be better to take hkd with wc though, because at least hkd was some grappling

They sound okay. But make sure you have in mind an overall goal when your training the other one. If you are looking to learn some basic grappling ect. For example if a bjj fighter wanted to do boxing, he would not want to train in bobbing and weaving since that can be disastorous for a mma fight. He also must learn to use it to accomplish his main goal, to bring the fight to the grappling position so he needs to train with an emphasis of getting into a clinch or setting up a takedown. The bjj fighter's goal is not to become a pro boxer but to survive in the free movement phase and use his knowledge to get into grappling range. So say your overall goal is to get out of long range so you can get in to use chain punches. Get knowledge of the kicks and practice them to get close to the opponent and practice entering when your opponent tries a kick.

            Well said.

I would also add that it seems after taking WC for a few months you are not fullfilled which I assume is teh reason for wanting to learn another style. If so, maybe WC or WC with your instructor is not right for you. If you just want to learn another style I would go with HKD alot of the locks can work nicely with WC.
