    Who controls grading?

I understand in GJJ the Gracies control the Black Belts but who does so in BJJ?
BJJ isn't really one school/style, so what keeps others from using the name for McDojo practices?

GJJ is BJJ... we wont get into that but anyway.

GJJ in America is basically Rorion and the Torrance Academy. That contributes to very little of the BJJ in this country. There are many other team such as Gracie Barra, Nova Uniao, Alliance, Rickson Gracie Association, ect.

It is pretty hard to parade yourself around as a BJJ black belt unless you keep your school very very small and out of the public eye. When you meet BJJ guys, you will start off the conversation by asking where they trained, who their instructor was, ect. Now if they are telling the truth then you could go and check out their credentials with no problems. Also if they knew anything about Brazilian politics, they would know that if they were parading around as a black belt under a notable instructor, they would get their asses smoked

You can't be a fake bjj black belt. The lineage of black belts is so easily verifyable, and anyone who wants to train bjj will have the common sense to make sure the person they're training under is bona fide.
And even if someone lies and opens up a school pretending to be a black belt, it's just a matter of time before a purple belt from out of town decides to stop by to train there and the truth comes out.

I also think that blue belt run schools are stupid. I know people who have trained at such places and their progress was so much slower than if they had trained with a purple or higher. Purples are ready to teach the art.
Of course if there is nothing better in your area, training with a blue belt is better than nothing though.

True but you are not learning diredctly from MASTER MANSOR I assume you are learning from Kenny Araujo (brown belt)

Also, it is interesting that the logo has throws vs a groundfighting logo as most BJJ schools have (doesn't mean anything just interesting to note)

They are in a situation where they may or may not have "extensive" knowledge however have enough to offer beginners of the art. They are also taking only a club fee which should cover the costs of club expenses. Since they are taking a miniscual(sp?) amount of money and obviously not doing it for financial purposes, it is definitely a worthy activity. In this situation, no one is getting cheated and for the most part, these blue belts are not marketing themselves as experts of the art, just guys who know a little more than your average white belt.
                I agree with that,
let say this dude got a Blue belt.
For some reasons (work, family, education), he has to relocate in some 'lost' city that do not have a BJJ club.
He could hang his Gi and forget about it because people think he should not be allowed to open a club.

Or one option for him is to open a club and get some guys training together. I mean he will never make lot to money.
But creating such club should get him motivated, give him a bunch of guys he can pratice with, pass on some of his knowledge. They could put all their money together get some quality BJJ instructors over for some seminars on a regular basis.
Who knows, they might become sucessfull into attracting some BBJ for a long term stay and/or create some affiliation with existing BJJ for students to 'travel' and learn at the 'headquarter'?

But what if BJJ gets more popular, it becomes harder to verify, who awards the higher grades in BJJ?, who is valid to issue black belts? and who determines this validity?
When more people are valid to promote to BB, who will garantee us that non of them will fall for the money and issue BB easier?
The Gracies control their part but BJJ has broken away from being the domain of the Gracies alone, outside of their schools and those affiliated with them they don't have any control
Wait untill the 3rd generation BJJ instructors come, those whose teacher was non Brazilian, from the 4th is becomes hard to verify the teacher anymore

Take MT, it is already near to impossible to verify the instructors there

I think they are talking about the US market.
Outside USA, it can be difficult to 'trace' the line.
It is ironic because GJJ always promote the idea of stopping unhealthy fetishism of authority and myth in the traditional MA.
However, first thing BJJ MA people do is claim their lineage?
e.g Oh, yes I am all legit..my BJJ instructor comes so and so..
