Hey guys/gals. I thought I'd post links to my predictions for the upcoming PrideFC. The links below will take you to my site MaximumG.com.

The June 20th, 2004 PrideFC show will feature the second round of the Heavy Weight Grand Prix tournament and a couple of “extra” matches. The non-tournament matches include a rematch between Kazushi Sakuraba and Nino Schembri and a match to determine the #1 light-heavy weight contender between Quinton Jackson and Ricardo Arona.

It took you longer to write that reply than it would have to click the link(s).

Don't you guys have the balls to make some predictions?

Saku defeats Schembri by submission (first fight was a total fluke, the stars must have been perfectly aligned for Nino)

Quinton over Arona by unanimous decision (Arona will lie on his butt and play defense and get slammed down a few times and punched)

Schilt vs Kharitonov, Schilt by KO (just guessing)

Ogawa defeats Giant Silva by submission (Giant Silva needs to get out of the sport, if he wins people won't like him and if he loses people will ridicule him, he's way too big and his skills are seriously lacking)

Yoshida vs Mark Hunt (who the hell is Mark Hunt?), Yoshida by sub

Noguiera vs Herring, Herring by TKO (I think Heath is due for a big win here, he has his dangerous striking and escape ability, I think he will have some surprises this time. Their first fight was one of my favorite fights of all time, Nog clearly won but they were both so exciting and active and full of heart)

Fedor will KO Randleman in under a round.

I don't know why Hunt accepted the Yoshida fight. I predict he lasts 2 minutes in the first round before being submitted.

my predictions for the fights I care about:

            - Saku by submission
            - Arona by submission
            - Nogueira by submission
            - Fedor by KO

I wonder what the odds are of it playing out like this.. not so sure about Arona.

              Results in!

              Results:

Saku over Schembri by unanimous decision. Apparently Saku messed up his knee really badly in the first round but didn't quit. He got the better of Schembri standing and took him down several times. Saku hasn't really given himself time to heal between his fights and injuries, I think people would rate him a lot higher if he had fought a little less and been 100% every time. But he's a tough guy.

Quinton slammed Arona unconscious. Arona was busy in the guard and almost had him but the slam...

Kharitinov messed up Schilt, eventually stopped by the ref due to strikes.

Ogawa took out the Giant after mounting him. I think they shouldn't ask the Giant to fight anymore. He's just a big freak, no conditioning, scant skills. He weighs over a 100 lbs more than the other HW fighters but can't hang with them.

Yoshida subbed Hunt. It almost looked like Hunt was gonna give him problems but the fight didn't go for long.

Noguiera choked out Herring. I wish the Crazy Horse could have pulled it off, he's one of my favorite fighters to watch. 2nd round tap I think. I think Herring might be the new Goodridge of PRIDE, the gatekeeper who incoming heavies have to fight their way through; he's too good for that though.

Fedor tapped Randleman out to a kimura. I thought in past times I've watched Randleman fight that he leaves himself open to keylocks, vs Mo Smith and Bas, but in the past he powered out of it. But Fedor is pretty damn strong too.

It will be interesting how they pair the fighters up next. Whoever fights Ogawa has the advantage in the finals, which kind of messes up the tournament, IMO.
Saku said he wants to fight again in August but he's getting old and he's always hurt. Don Frye said Saku was about 60% for his fight against Little Nog, and he still cut him pretty bad and held him at bay. The ref was a bit generous to Nog in standing the fight up within 5 sec of Nog being in the buttscoot position. Reminded me of the crap Big John pulled on Kohsaka against Bas Rutten, a fight Bas would have very well lost if Big John hadn't stood them up so many times.

OH Yeah, I expect Vanderlei to win by a late TKO over Jackson when they fight for the belt. Vanderlei will lose eventually, but I don't think it will be to Jackson.

You didn't mention anything about that body slam from Randleman. I've never seen anything like that in the Pride \FC and the way he made Fedor land on his head ! Too bad the guy got tapped out though, Fedor had a superior ground game and he is just as strong from the looks of that match.

                Sincerly,
                Andrew Velocci
