    Has anyone else heard of this martial art?
    About all I know is it was developed in prison,uses lots of elbows&knees and was one of the martial arts used in the first Lethal Weapon movie along with Brazilian Jiujitsu.

    Never heard of it. Sounds to me like a BS "martial art" that is practiced by convicts and makes them look identicle to the great "John Hess"

      From what I heard of it, it was designed to fight multiple opponents (well more like survive multiple opponents) Or prison brawls. Uses a lot of elbows while using the arms to keep the head covered. I think it's more of a "cover up and start throwing knees and elbows" kind of style.

      I don't know much more than that, though.

                    Hey Chop thanks for the articles......

                    one scene in Lethal Weapon where Mel had just escaped the torture-specialist he is like hooking bad-guys necks throwing them to the side,throwing elbows&headbutts -would that be the JHR?

                    Looks kind of like a street-muay thai type of style.

                    Whats your opinion of it?

                      rockin' the house

                      badger;

                      i haven't read the articles in depth, but i have trained with a number of LEOs over the years, & they seem to win the vast majority of "street shiai"/"street kumite" against graduates of prison dojos.

                      imho, if you want to learn hand-to-hand self-defense, you need to find a LEO with rank in an established system (shotokan karate, judo, bjj, etc.);

                      those particularly concerned about personal safety should learn how to use a firearm, depending on the laws in their local area;

                      that said, you still need backup training in H2H combat, so the firearm isn't taken away from you.

                      2 cents from,

                      chop wisby
