A friend of mine is looking for some grappling vids, mostly sambo ones and I was wondering of what you guys thought of
Igor Yakimov series-this seems to be good but I would like everyone elses opinon.
Oleg Taktarov Panther videos series-I have heard mixed stuff on this so I would really like a review. I heard a review about it being good but I question the reviewer. He said he does not feel like Oleg knows about basic grappling principles and he feels that Olegs just wins fights by his touphness and luck rather than grappling ability You don't become a sambo champion or an Mixed Martial Arts champion on just touphness and luck. Plus anyone watching Olegs fights know he has grappling ability.
Other Oleg series-I know there is other ones and I would like to know about them.
Nick Starks Wrestling Sambo-This seems really interesting. I have heard weird things about Starks. I have no clue if he ever learned sambo or who he learned it from. Or what titles he holds. I have heard he is really a Shootfighter just trying to get some cash of the sambo name. This could be true judging by the fact he also has a video on Pitfighting which is a fake martial art. Anyone know if he is a legit Sambo guy?
Combat Sambo from Panther videos thinks its by Toney Lopez-I read a review about this being good. The person that made it is also an esteemed sambo instructor so it seems to be good.
Street Sambo-This also seems to be a good series on combat sambo. No fluff from waht I heard, just hardcore combat sambo based on the 4 principles of sambo.
Toney Chechine Catch wrestling-I heard it had good wristlocks and the look on his partners face was hilarious.
Jason Delucia Combat Aikido- This is just out of pure interest. I have heard it combines Pankration, Boxing, aikido and five animal kung fu. Interesting combo.

Toney Chechine Catch wrestling is supposed to be a good series ( I saw it get a rating of 5/5 at a pretty reliable source i'd tell you but I forgot the link) and is mostly for people who want to learn a different prespective than the basic BJJ aspact of grappling. I was interested in the set because hooking was supposidly a pretty powerful style back in the day of Ancient Greece. If your friend is looking for some Sambo though I heard Igor Yakimov is the place to go although it's best if he researches it first and draws his own conclusions. Igor Yakimov

I have Igor Yakimov's leg lock series from World Martial Arts and I think it is worth every penny. He spends a lot of time on one move and his explanations are a little hard to decipher becuase his english is so bad. However you learn some really good details and leg locks that these tapes can't help but improve your ground game. I have actually used some of the techniques I learned and practiced from his tapes in live sparring in my class and the details alone that he showed really put me at another level.

Tony Cecchine's Catch wrestling had one or two interesting points, but I couldn't stand the his attitude and the BJJ bashing. I'd like to see him fight a good grappler. You're right about the assistant dude though, they found the most inflexible guy possible and Tony made him suffer plently.

How about Oleg's series with Panther. The complaint with that person was that Oleg hooked up with amateurs but Panther is not an amateur. I also really want to find out about tony lopez's combat sambo series with panther video and Nick Starks sambo series.

I loathe vids-except for movies. Nothing takes the place of a live instructor. The vid is to make someone more money
