re-location help?

Hi all.
Not only am I new to this forum but I will be relocating to the LA area within the next 4 months.
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with suggestions of good neighborhoods to check on for single family housing. Rent or buy. Also if you give a suggestion maybe you could also suggest a school that has some BJJ instruction.
Just as a little help, my job is located in the Los Alamitos area.
If any of you folks have suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Cypress and Cerritos have some nice areas.

There are tons of places with good neighborhoods.

But depending where you are moving from, beware of sticker shock.
I would suggest that you rent for a while and check out the neighborhoods.

If you want to train BJJ, there are so many places here.

check out BJJ.org for a listing of places in Southern California.

if you're serious about training, go to as many schools as you can, then pick the school you like and move nearby.

but Sticker shock is having a certain price in your mind of a product or service, you look at the price tag and you almost have a heart attack because the price is so much higher than what you would expect.

Reminds me of a story. I was in Beverly Hills and had some time to kill, so I went to do some shopping in a men's store on Rodeo Drive. I saw a cool tie and was thinking, damn, this is a good buy at $12.00 but I then looked again and saw that there was three zeroes and it was $120.

I was in one of the Caesar's Forum shops in Las Vegas and was inquiring about some silk ties that were pleated. The bitchy sales girl comes over and tells me that on this display there are $350 and the other ones are $400.
Sheeet, I am thinking, I can go to a cheap store and buy a bargain suit for that much. Next time I go to the mall, the store is gone. I wonder why? Heh heh.

As you can see, I like to shop for neckties. I was in the Denver Airport and almost missed our flight home, from our ski trip, because I was in the tie shop. Made it in the place by about one minute before they closed up the door.
