Does anybody no anything about the straightblast gym? How is it different from krav magna?

I've actually came across Straight Blast gym in the last few days myself. It looks like one of the best things going. Has anyone trained there, and is it the real deal?

Straight Blast gym is run by Matt Thornton, who posts as Smart Monkey, if you have questions you can email him from the SBG website. He is more than happy to answer questions from what I have found. If this post stays towards the top i'm sure if he sees it he will post.

Try looking up posts by smart monkey and you will get a good idea what it's all about.

Big Sean Madigan is also associated with Straight Blast Gym He also posts on this site from time to time.

Burton Richardson also deals with them quite a bit You can check out his forums on this site as well.

Straight Blast Gym is focused on the promotion of high performance training in the areas of Stand up (Boxing, MT), Clinch (Greco, MT) and Ground (BJJ, Wrestling). Members include pro fighters like Rory Singer, Forrest Griffin and John Kavanaugh but the SBG is not strictly a fight gym. It includes BJJ Black, Brown, Purple and Blue Belts and has a specific BJJ curriculum but it is not strictly a BJJ school. It includes Self Protection, Knife Defense, Stick Fighting and Law Enforcement training.....blah blah blah. You get the point.

The bottom line is, SBG is about Performance, sure. But it is also about having fun. I have never met a cooler bunch of guys.

Check it out for yourself. You will not see a heavy marketing program in SBG. It is all pretty much word of mouth. There is also a very strict quality control in place as far as people representing SBG.
