I heard that Shaq is training BJJ now. And that he just stands up and does a bicep curl when anyone tries to armbar him, even the black belts. They have to get to his back in order to tap him.
Hearsay, of course, but it rings of truth to me. And seems like a similar situation to your question!

Fair play to Shaq, but bear in mind - UFC 48, Frank Mir armbarred Tim Sylva and when Tim refused to tap, Tim's forearm was snapped in 2 places
(... I know Frank isn't a midget, but a midget strong enough could probably do similar damage if the technique is good).
To bring a bit light hearted humour to the forum...
Q. Can a 3ft midget armbar a 6ft bloke?
It's a genuine question
I would imagine a 3 ft midget would have a lower center of gravity and go for a single leg takedown (if he was strong and trained) and be better off going for an ankle lock, key lock, lapel choke.
He would be very unsuccessfull with the armbar or triangle...
Yes, he would be able to pull it off, but he would need to put some effort into it. Please allow me to explain. Think back to your school lunch cafeteria days. You just walked through the lunch line, potatoes piled high by Greta, the line lady. Think how you carried your tray. Hands evenly placed on either side, two fists out from your chest, even with the space below your breastbone. This is the area where you are strongest - your power so to speak.
In order for the midget to be able to work the arm bar, he would need to work good ol' Andre the Golly Green Giant into his power space. To do that, he would need to break him down. If I were him, I'd start by striking the interior of the legs, placing accurate shots along the nerve line that parallels the femural artery. This usually has the effect of freezing a man - ANY man. Then, I'd work my way up and deliver an elongated blow with my thumb to the balance point located 1 fist below the navel. Right about where the belt sits. This launches his hips back and makes a man bend over. Now, you'll need to shock him again. So when you pick up his arm strike it once on the under side going up and again on the top going down, dropping your weight. This will loosen his arm and lower his center of gravity into the area where teh midget could work, his power. Now, apply the technique.
In all seriousness, it is a difficult scenario to imagine. The aforementioned technique would almost certainly need some modification given that each situation is different. Anyone attempting to apply said technique needs to have a firm understanding of adaptation.
ok before i give my answer i need to know a few things.
1. Is this particular 6 ft bloke thick or skinny?
2. Did the midget manage to take it to the ground or the 6 ft bloke.
3. Was the midget in the guard position to begin with?
4. How many drinks did the midget have that gave him the idea he could slap on an armbar on a 6 ft bloke.
5. How many drinks did the 6 ft bloke have before he thought it was a good idea to take on a midget?
6. Is there a large woman involved?

thank you
1. Skinny
2. Midget bit the guys leg and them pulled of a 'double leg' takedown.
3. err.. Midget was in the guard of the 6ft bloke.
4. None.
5. 6ft bloke shagged the midget's bird, after having 5 pints.
6. Yep!
shagged his bird eh? Yeah i would say that the bloke was in trouble and not just from the armbar but the fact that the midget bit him. He could die from an infection.

1. who cares
2. midget obviously, lower center of gravity, groin shots etc,
3. midgets probably use a modified guard because of their leg length.
4/5. Both men were seen drinking heavily before the event
6. ...when the fat lady sings
Sure he "can." The question is does size matter in grappling. Yes, size matters. Strength, balance, and speed matter too. Although many try to say it doesn't--it does. Fighting is an athletic endevour and athleticism helps.
