  • Which BJJ Kimono has best sleave cut? Shorter 'skirt'? Less sandpaper on the inside?

Looking to purchase new kimonos... Out of all the low-end kimonos, single weave (not quadruple weave, competition, flak jackets), which brands (Howard, Atama, Krugans, Gameness, Adidas, etc.) have the best:

Sleave cut (so your opponent cannot control your arms)?

Skirt (so you aren't wrestling in a bedspread)?

Material (I know we're all supposed to be tough, but I still shop for quilted toiletpaper not sandpaper)?

All feedback much appreciated! Rate your own gi, and people you wrestle.

    Thanks!!!

    Check out Joker's Jiu-Jitsu Kimono & Gi reviews: http://www.jokerjitsu.com/gi/

Personally, I love my double-weave Atama. Its soft in the right places, and stiff where its supposed to be stiff. It fit me right out of the box and never really shrunk. I've had my newest one for about two years and it is still in near-perfect shape.

I own a Machado Double, Howard Double, Gameness Gold, and Ouano single.

The best cut gi IMO is the Howard, and they don't have skirts.

Machados are the baggiest, even after shrinking mine is still too baggy.

        Gameness:
        1. great for guys with a medium-muscular build (room @ the shoulders for great mobility); sleeves are cut tight
        2. it's gold weave (so it's soft & smooth), no cotton skirt, and comparitively light (skirt or no skirt is a personal preference, but I believe most people like the aesthetics and construction of having no skirt)
        3. collar is thick and badass - if you get collar choked, you deserve it
        4. pants are great too

        HCK:
        1. standard single is awesome; again it's great with guys who are broad; sleeves are cut wider and I've noticed I get controlled more
        2. material is smooth & soft, no cotton skirt, light wt.
        3. collar is thick and badass - if you get collar choked, you deserve it
        4. pants are great too

        Atama:
        1. cut is for more lean guys; sleeves are cut tight
        2. gold weave, cotton skirt which makes it super light
        3. Descent collar
        4. Pants are OK, again suited better for lean dudes

Rolled with guys with Mkimonos Gold (nice cut & soft collar) and Ouano Gold(nice cut and nice med-thick collar)

Keiko Raca (Double weave) - the top fits really well, with tight sleeves, thick collar, and no skirt. It is a bit rough though. The pants are a little tight on me.

Atama (Double weave) - The skirt is a bit longer and I find the sleeves are a bit looser than the Keiko, but it's really comfortable, even as a double weave. The pants fit much better than the Keiko.

Heh. I've been wearing the Keiko top with the Atama pants since I tore the Keiko pants in October. I still haven't gotten around to getting them patched.

For Christmas I'm getting myself a double weave Koral Gi
          T.

I should point out that my instructor (Jeff Kunze, a Rigan Machado Blackbelt) wears HCK and won't even consider wearing anything else.

Try a Howard and cut the sleaves an additional 2" or so(make sure you have soneone do it that knows how to use a sewing machine). Thats what I did and everyone hated it. My instructor even went as far to say it was illegal. So if you're going to compete, see if theirs a regulation.

I don't really think it was illegal though. He didn't know I cut it until I told him.
