  • What is the Score

I hear alot of stories on this forum of Kick Boxers and Mai Tai fighters taking on 4t to 5 people at once. Never heard of kungfu, arnis or karate guys doing this.

Does this somthing about the system ?. Is kick boxing more effective then other systems

    [takes big breath]

    Mai tai is a drink.

Oh, and any martial artist from any martial art can try to take on multiple opponents.

Okay, here's some for the Kung Fu side. William Cheung took out quite a few guys coming over from Hong Kong to Australia. Although it wasn't all at once, as he was on a ship and in confined place, he said only 3 or 4 could attack him at a time. He also admits to being stabbed while this was happening so its not about him being invincible or anything like that.

My Sifu, Brian Lewadny, has had many mutliple opponent fights. The one I like to relate was when he was practicing with his band in a bar and after the rehersal the band memebers started to have some drinks and got cocky with a biker gang. Sifu didn't drink but when the fighting started he stepped in to help out his friends and band memebers. Eventually it was like 10 on 1 and there was no choice for him to fight the gang memebers, to which he was successful. I'm sure he used whatever tools necessary to defeat that many men at one time.

        Just a few stories...

Call me skeptical, but 10 stronger than average, tough guys against 1 wingchun man is going to end really quickly. The wingchun dude would be flat on his behind in seconds.

10 strong, tough dudes against 1 any fighter is going to end pretty quickly. 5 on 1, the 1 guy can probably do enough to keep himself alive if he's really good, but 10???

Have you tried sparring against 3 skilled guys at once? No, not having one attack predictably and voluntarily, while the others wait.

          Its humbling.

Do you have any proof? Besides the fact that he told you? William Cheung seemed to have a hard time with Boztepe one on one..... I know Vernon White an mma fighter had a bar fight a while ago in which he knocked out many people.

Same with Shamrock and Bas. Shamrock worked doors before he got into pankration; he was allready a really good highschool wrestler, an experienced street fighter, an ex-Marine and kept himself in really good condition. Guys built like defensive linemen tried to start stuff when he worked doors and seemed to deal with them allright.

Bas - similar story. He worked doors in Amsterdam. Bouncers in the Netherlands don't worry about lawsuits as anyone whose been there a while can tell and Bas didn't seem to worry to much about mixing it up now and then. He has even been in fights with several at once trying to take him out (not like the kung-fu flicks).

I heard that Boztepe downplayed the UFC and its reality. Needless to say, Bas and another Dutchman (Dutch Jujitsu Champ) Pardoel took him up on his words. Not dissing Boztepe or WC, but surely I believe the WC system is good enough on its own without its 'deadly moves.'

Its going to take a while though for a wingchun fighter to come up through the MMA circuit with wingchun alone...

The tool being an AK-47 with a banana clip would be the only believable way
