  • Creatine??

    Hey..Anyone here use creatine?

I'm interested to know what effect it had on your training.
    Any side effects etc...
What did it do for you?

I have a friend who took creatine -he quit because it burned when he would take a pee.

I would watch out for supplements that are so new we don't know the end result.
    Just my opinion.

          Yella,

You don't need that crap. Your body has an abundance of it already.

Take a look at the weightlifting program I suggested to you. It works.

You're previous question was how to put on size, was it not?
If you want size, big size, you cannot be as cardiovascularly active as you are now. You are working against growth. At your age, you're metabolism is working overtime. You must sacrifice your time to weightlifting or you just will not see results.

Again, I said before- Although I am older than you, we are about the same size. I would never have put on an incredible 30lbs of lean mass on my small frame if I had not sacrificed jogging, swimming, etc., for weightlifting time. And I never took one supplement- not one. Just protein and rest.

If you are going to put in time at the dojo, you had better be prepared to put in twice as much time at the gym. And you know this is a very hard thing physically and mentally to do.

Of course you could continue doing what you are doing, and naturally fill out as you become mature physically. It is up to you.

At your age, personally, I would knock off mma considerably( not altogether though) and consentrate on building mass for 6 months with a good plan- then you can switch back and just maintain your size at the gym once a week.

I took creatine twice before workouts.

Both times were moderate doses taken with grape juice.

Both times I got a mild headache and mild nausea.

            End of creatine for me.

Have found creatine syrum to be quite effective. You don't need to load before a work out and you can take a squirt on your toungue 10 mins before, you don't have the digestion problems because it is quickly absorbed into your system. Have taken all of my lifts to a higher weight, which has helped with my throws alot.

Hey David, Im starting a new routine on Wed. I just havent been to the gym this past week and a half because of exams. So I havent tried anything new at all. But dont worry, my routine is all new and Im using low reps and low sets with high reps now. I USED to take creatine, I stopped taking that long time ago. Thanks for your concern and advice.

My friend uses Creatine......and his only gripe is his claim that his nuts are now the size of raisins.

But I wouldn't worry too much.

I took creatine and gained about 15 pounds in 2 months. My strenght level also increased, I was doing 125 lbs dumbbells for 20 reps when doing flat bench dumbbell presses. I was told by many that I was getting thick but decided to quit taking it because I don't know what the long term effects of using creatine could be.

I've been taking Creatine for two weeks. Seems the majority of this forum isn't well informed about it.

-Don't take it with any citrus or caffeine. They will absorb and eat up a lot of the creatine.
-Before it will work, you need to go through a 'loading' stage. That is, take 5g (for an average sized person) every 4 hours
-One thing it does is allow your muscle to hold more water than it normally does.
-If you take it right, you WILL put on muscle wait (a lot from the water). People who claim it doesn't work were obviously not doing it right. This is science, creatine WILL work.
-You shouldn't take it if you have kidney problems or are too young.
-Once you stop taking it you WILL lose some of your mass. You won't lose all of it, just a little.
-The reason for taking it is to increase the intensity of your workout, therefore making gains easier.
-Long term affects are uncertain. It is believed to be 100% safe if taken properly, but test's are still being done on certain situations (pregnant mother's, young kids, many years of usage)

Hope that helps a little. Yeah, so I've been taking it for two weeks and I've noticed a difference. Not a huge one, but definately a difference. My Biceps and shouldershave made noticable growth. I can work with about 10lbs more than I normally do. My endurance seems to be a bit better.

The first set on anything is still just as hard, but after my muscles are really warmed up the work out go's by smooth. I notice myself being a little more intense while lifting.

Anyway, hope that helps you, and there's plenty of information about creatine here on the net. Go ahead and do a search to get some more opinions and results etc.

Oh by the way, it might make your dick fatter. Lol. Even though you were joking... It does have a lot of muscle and creatine makes your muscles swell up.

By the way, one thing I forgot, drink A LOT of water. But being the martial artists you all are, you should be doing that already.

                              Thanks for the info guys...

Yeah the things that worry me most about creatine are the long term effects and if your gains are only a temporary thing..e.g Once I'm off creatine..my strength and size goes down again..

I also heard from some friends that it made them feel kinda sick too...

I'll be fine without it..I'll just work harder!
