I think he should get a better stand-up coach: someone from a muy thai background.
e.g Some good experienced kick-boxing/Thai Box coaches from Holland.
I think his stand up has improved heaps.I watched the fight and his intention was not to go toe to toe.I think his stand up coach is donig a good job.Royce Wouldnt be with him if he wasnt.
"Omoplata" is the name of the shoulder blade or scapula in portuguese. You can find it in anatomy books. The original move name, "the omoplata lock" was shorted.
"Gogoplata" name came from a brazilian slang "gogó" for throat, and "plata" borrowed from the omoplata word. "Gogoplata" word has no meaning in itself, its just like a slang for "throat-lock".
Thanks for the post MindFighter. Few Brazilians at my club,This technique has come up in many discussions."omapalata". They have told me that there is no meaning for these to word in the Portuguese language thus my response in an earlier post.
I asked them if Omapalata was the shoulder blade or scapula and they said no,It had no meaning.
Will have to go back to the club tonight and slap those Brazilians silly.
cheers for the post.
Gus: First of all I would like to thank you for this exclusive interview. Everybody knows that you are a Jujitsu expert. Is there any other martial art that you like?
Royce: I also train in kickboxing, about 3 times a week and I already have a black belt in karate.
