Does anyone actually self teach themselves because well it doesn't seem to work that great for me but than again I try self teaching myself Muay Thai but only the stretching.

There are some things you can do on your own. For instance, most of my academic knowledge of MA is by actually researching things and reading whatever I can get my hands on. As far as learning techniques there is no substitute for a living breathing instructor that can teach the finer points. Also you can not learn to fight without actually fighting. Every MAist needs to test their theoretic principles from time to time. Kata is usefull if you know what you're doing. Good exercise too.

Only in the beginning, when I could not afford a paid instructor. That's good at first; but once you get your cash right, get a paid instructor unless it's a relative then of course it should be free of cost.
Also, I taught myself several kata but that's a different ball game.

Upon further reflection I did learn quite a bit and picked up a few skills on my own with a number of firearms... shooter's bible and a "Lee-loader". Like how to kill things. The field dressing and butchering process can teach us a thing or two and you can even find a culinary side to yourself. I have a good recipe for dragon ballz!
