I think that in all reality, it is a moot point. JKD has become more or less a "subset" of mma. That may not be what alot of people want to think, but I
believe it is the current state of evolution. There are really only three groups of people who can claim any direct link to Bruce:
1. people who taught Bruce Lee ( William Chueng, Master mark, Gene LeBell)
2. people who studied with or under Lee ( Lewis, Stone, Norris, Inosanto, Wong, Hartsell, Golden, Bremer, etc.)
3. people who were members of Lee schools under certified jk-whatever instructors ( Kent, Dill, etc.)
These three group of people represent a finite number of men, who numbers will decrease over the years. However, anyone can study the arts that "surround" Jkd: boxing, wrestling, jujitsu, kali, muay thai, bando, savate, silat, wing chun, Wu taiji, southern mantis, eagle claw, shui chiao, chin na, etc.
So it is neither possible nor necessary to become jk-d, but anyone with the desire to do so can recompse elemetns of Lee's skills.
Saying that mma is better than jk-d/jk-d-c is like saying that boxing is better than a jab.
