I think you guys are taking his comments out of proportion. I mean honestly, who here doesn't agree that Severn doesn't have any submission or striking skills? Who doesn't believe that he slaps his opponents? Severn is a GREAT wrestler and can win many decisions but he also can be torn apart. Honestly the only fight I ever enjoyed of Severn's was his fight against Royce and that was because of how dramatic it was and the Triangle Choke finish. Exciting fights he provides, I've never been excited wathing a Severn match and does anyone remember his rematch with Shamrock? That was one of the all time worst fights and I hope no one will disagree with me just to disagree. All these things are true. Definatly what was said was more stupid then untrue because what kind of guy puts down a fighter main eventing his show? If I was an MMA newbie and Dan Severn was one of the first guys I ever heard of I would not want to hear that he sucks because I would feel ripped off. Severn and Shamrock are some of the first fighters people hear about because of their WWF tenure, so they should have some mystique about them even if they're past their prime like Severn is. Severn can no longer hang with world class fighters, maybe he can tear up some guy in King of the Cage but NOT in a UFC main event. Dan Severn is awesome for the sport because he's definatly someone I want represting something I love because of his nature. He's fun and intelligent and I think the public would look at him and say, "Wow, if those are the kind of people fighting then what's the big deal?" However he should retire, maybe become an announcer or help out the smaller feds like he's trying to do. However what was said IS true and should be accepted.

That's not the point, Hookah. Dan Severn has brought many great fights to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is a gentleman and a worthy competitor. Bottom Line: DAN SEVERN DOES NOT DESERVE THIS ABUSE.

What the hell has Peretti done anyway?! I can understand the likes of Don Wilson throwing in some trash talk (about grapplers) a little bit more.....HE ACTUALLY SUCCESSFULLY COMPETED IN SOMETHING WORTHWHILE.

Peretti should just keep his mouth shut. I don't see his worthless ass in the ring, despite the fact that he's a self-proclaimed "expert". He's certainly entitled to his opinion, but to voice that type of trash talk in front of millions of fans......that puts him in the same category as Tank Abott....but at least Tank fought in the ring. Dan Severn is too great of a competitor to be subject to that kind of abuse.

He wasn't taking abuse however, he was stating Dan Severn's strength's and weaknesses. Have you ever done that about a fighter? Peretti is stupid for saying it on national TV ONLY BECAUSE IT IS PUTTING DOWN A FIGHTER IN THE MAIN EVENT OF HIS SHOW. If it was about a mid-carder who has time to improve it makes sense, but to Dan Severn whose almost done in fighting [he's faught longer than anyone would've that's for sure] and putting him down is stupid. The comments weren't that bad, they were true. Severn is a legend, but he's not perfect

I think it is quite obvious what is going on here...
Perretti is one of those guys that in no way shape or form has the talent to fight, but still wants to bathe in the fighter spotlight. He is the ultimate wannabe. He can't fight so put him behind the microphone so he can act like a big shot and know-it-all.

I know most people have their opinion on Royce Gracie but he did have a funny comment on Eyada with Eddie Goldman. When someone said Bas Ruttan criticized him (I don't remember on what) he simply said something like, "why didn't Bas Ruttan fight? Kerr fought, I fought tell him to shut up or fight!" I thought that was pretty amusing.

I'm sure Dan Severn wouldn't have to be paid too much to square off against Perretti!

Peretti is one weasel, but in the fighting promotion business that isnt so surprising, is it?! Consider the truly classy Don King!

Its a shame that Severn wastes his time replying to such nonsense. We, the fans, are more than happy to carry Severn's water on this issue.

Cooter - do you have the UFC email address? I'd like to send a reply to them about this spineless weasel Peretti.

Members - if you attend the next UFC event in person, why dont you tell Peretti in person what a jerk he was?! No need to get violent, just let him know that he was acting like a real douche-bag. And tell him that such poor quality announcing may cause you to avoid viewing future UFC events. And that you will certainly complain to the UFC about any future such annoyances from him.

i think peretti talks too much and doesnt know as much as he thinks, but we should all keep 2 things in mind:

1- its a free country where even idiotic promoters can voice their odd and not-too-brilliant opinions; thats what democracy is

2- peretti (or people under him, i dont know who) have made some great matchups in the EFC. i really enjoyed the action in EFC III, (but not the commentary)
