Im just gonna come straight out and ask...Ive been looking for a martial art that is proficient in self defense and offensive techniques. I know the best martial art is the one you practice the most and devote the most time and energy to. I'm a fairly small guy, 5'6" 120lbs and have been boxing for a year and enjoy it. The only reason i started boxing was because I couldnt find a martial art that interested me. I just want to learn to defend myself and basically hurt anyone giving me a problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks
jeet kune do is one of the most effective art you can take . im sure people most here will agree.
Why not carry a firearm? Its an effective way to end an extremely dangerous situation. You could be attacks by multiples, with knives, sticks, guns, ect. A firearm is an excellent tool.
Combine that with some combat shooting and weapons retention techniques, and a h2h system like Krav Maga, CDT, or BJJ.
Or are you one of those liberal "give your attacker what he wants" and "the police are here to protect us" type of people that this state is infested with.
I find it amusing that so many different people will say that their style of self defense is the best, in fact, I would be willing to wager that most people who make that claim have only studied that one style. You can only be the best you can be by studying several styles of self defense, to say that one is better that another is ridiculous. It does not matter what you take be it BJJ, JKD, TKD, or Kenpo. It only matters what you are willing to put into it and what of yourself you are willing to give. There are no two people in this world who are an exact match in skill level. There will always be difference in height, weight, training and desire. I've seen a green belt in Kenpo destroy a black belt in JKD and I've seen a yellow belt in BJJ beat that same green belt and then I saw a white belt in JKD kill the yellow belt in BJJ. It's all about how bad you want it, now where you learn it. If you want tho be the best the only person you can rely on to get you there is yourself.
