what do u guys think of pro wrestling as a style? yeah the matches are choreographed, but alot of the techniques i see used in pro wrestling are actual techniques.i think alot of people assume that pro wrestlers probobly cant fight cause what they do is "fake". the fact is, most pro wreslters can grapple for real, and alot of them crosstrain in martial arts. i mean, just look at rob van dam, that guy is a serious martial artist and it shows. not only that, but they have incredible breakfalling ability. if u watch any pro wrestling match, u can spot just how many times wrestlers break their falls. they arent just going ape shit in a ring, they are highly trained professionals. some of their techniques are made up and are just for show, but many of their moves are real ones. alot of the made ones that are for show can work in real life too. even the most basic of those body slams will crush a person if they are slammed on concrete. i dont think a pro wrestler would have any problem powerbombing some fool straight into the pavement, he does that shit for a living. pro wrestlers are also incredibly strong, agile, and have incredible endurance. lately i been watching some pro wrestling, and ive been noticing that many of them know alot of real techniques, they just dont execute them for real in the ring. i mean, kurt angle was an olympic wrestler before, and one of his finishing moves is an ankle lock. alot of wrestlers use real submission holds in the ring, along with some made up ones. this leads me to beleive they have some kind of "real" training. i see all kinds of arm bars, chokes, and leg logs in pro wrestling. anyone see the way chris benoit locks a persons arm from standing position, then takes em down and puts em in the crossface? he executes that armlock pretty well, he would have no problem putting someone in that in real life.
anyone see chris benoit vs kurt angle when they wrestled to see who was the best technical wrestler? that match was 30 min of the best grappling i ever seen. reversal after reversal, counter of counter, they really displayed some awesome grappling skills.
i know alot of u wont take this seriously, but it was in fact a pro wrestler who was able to defeat the gracies.
what u guys think ?
