belt colors

    not to chime in and take sides...

    47 did say
    "In the 60's-early70's when I was in the beginning of my martial art path, there were no colors. The emphasis was on training for knowledge and acquired skills, not acquiring colored belts/rank."

    i see no words of he sayng that it wasnt there

      -black in BJJ is the only respectable one, the others are nonsense

        Let say you were 15 years old back in the 60's when you in the beginning in your MA path, you are in your 60 years old according to you.

          I had stated-In the 60's-early70's
          I didn't state how old I was in the above.
          I was generalizing a time frame without being specific.

          I started my martial art path at the age of 91/2 in 1966.
          Looking at those before me, and older, under my first instructor.
          And other martial art schools in my area.
          There were no belt colors.
          A few instructors wore black-beginners wore white.
          There wasn't a concern for colors amongst these I had observed.

          I did not state any schools/styles in the world had none.
          I stated it on my surroundings-my immediate vinicity.
          I stated, beginning of my martial art path

          And do you agree or not on;
          Belt colors were introduced primarily outside of Asian arts as more of a visual means to observe/award levels of progress.
