you'll be 28 too one day. Ask yourself: Would you rather be 28 and no training or 28 with years worth of training.

This is so true. I didn't start martial arts untill I was 27 and every time I read about some MMA fighter being 26 and training since 1999 or whatever, I kick myself in the ass. Get going while the getting's good.

          Open the door.

You have "defeated" yourself mentally before going inside.

A larger part of martial arts is preparing oneself mentally.

Unless you open the door and go inside, you will never obtain the mental preparation.

If the school had the door locked, then there is nothing you could have done.

If the door was unlocked/open, I am sure the instructor will accomodate and make adjustments to speak with you and make things more comfortable.

You need to take a jump. No matter how far you fall, there's always an end. And when you hit, you'll get up and brush yourself off. Everything will be just fine.

These guys that are in class and now have experience gained it because they were not afraid. If you devote the kind of time to BJJ that they have, you too will gain experience and by that time, shyness won't matter.

              Don't be afraid to train.

How true. You have to gain experience from self-experience.

Your first class you will train with students during warm up, and during technique the instructor will pull you aside and teach you 3 basic moves, usaully a americana arm lock form the ,ount, a choke from the mount, and a choke from the guard....a then you might get to grapple with the class, if not, you will the next class outing for sure

How do you know the curriculum of this particular instructor?

In life, when it comes to your dreams, either one of two things is happening. EITHER you get results, OR you have excuses for not having gotten results.

When you're old, do you want to look back and say "I lived my life safe, didn't take any risks, and everything was comfortable?" It's safe, but it's not very interesting, especially because you have this dream of learning martial arts!

GO FOR IT! Go out there and LIVE the life you want! Get your results!!!

NO One is born an expert.

It takes time, patience and training.

We all start at the beginning....

                          True..

But the "first step" is more "fearful" for some than others.
