Congratulations you can now cut & paste links.
You have earned your HKD internet nonsense Badge.
It's more interesting if you tell people of your training in HKD (assuming you train).
BTW this is the MMA/BJJ forum how does your(?) art apply to this?
Sorry if I sound rude but I don't remember seeing many HKD people in BJJ or MMA competitions.
AND yes BJJ/MMA is about COMPETITION not that fabled never-never land teh "Street".
If you just wanted to inform before you launched into your 'speech' I apologise.
If you're a Troll try harder.

Again this is the MMA/BJJ Forum.
What have these links got to do with MMA/BJJ?
Please explain why they relate to MMA/BJJ?
Also please list Pro Fighters (+ fight records) who study Hwarang Do.
The links do not say it all, not from where I'm standing.
Thank you

Hwarangdo
The word Hwa is old Korean (or Chinese) for flower. I think it means something like the path of the flowering student???
Anyhow, having some experience with Hapkido and having seen some HWD, I would say that the two arts share alot of things.
1. Impressive number of joint locks and takedowns.
2. Ancient weapon training (staff,sword,short staff,short swords,fan)
3. Slight emphasis on kicking.
4. Great focus on character development, martial spirit etc.
The differences are in their hand techniques. HWD actually practices forms (hyungs) whereas most hapkido do not.
HWD hand techniques uses alot of traditional buddhist martial art hand techniques - looks kind of like shao lin gong fu. HKD hand techniques are more like karate's and are evolving into boxing approach.
HKD is focusing more and more on moder weapons training - using knives, belts, short staffs - things you would find on a daily basis.
Both arts are worth a look if you are looking into well rounded traditional martial arts systems.
