I have been looking around for a good martial arts school in my or any nearby area. I live in Martin County Florida 34990. See a couple of guys from FLorida but mostly the west side. Was wondering if there is anyone near my area that knows of a good school with good instructors anywhere in my area??.. palm city, stuart, jensen beach, hobe sound, hutchison island,

st lucie county...is north of me and west palm beach is south..anyhelp is appreciated..thanks

What are you looking to study and how far are you willing to travel?

well its been to my experience that alot of these schools that are part dojo part fitness or gym really dont focus on the tradition and mental part of the martial arts..(not offending anyone).. I was thinking of a traditional jiu jitsu school ( not only brazilian). a school where the sensei's or teachers have a reputible background in the arts. A school to that effect. I took judo years ago and progressed through that art, then studied tiger schulmanns karate for a few years and gained my 2nd degree, now i moved to florida and looking for something..not sure exactly what..but something real. willing to travel from and hour to hour and ahalf or even two hours if i can afford it all.
any help is appreciated

Well there is an American Top team BJJ school in west palm at the corner of Southern Blvd. and Dixie hwy(US 1). I'm doing Judo now with Sensi Hector Vega, a really good instructor. He teaches at the YMCA in Boynton Beach. Ideally you have to just check around and maybe do a google search. Find what your looking for and go in and talk to the sensi.

Try TKA

You are more in the northern part of S.E. Florida. If you would like to travel there is a good school in Davie Florida called American TKA they have a great program for MMA and Muay Thai. It a long drive but one of the best school I havve found. www.americantka.com
