oh wow boys, my bad, i hope i haven't offended anyone

i guess i should abandon this thread so nobody else gets thier feelings hurt.

quit crying, and if you continue to cry, dont call me the bitch, i'm not here to annoy you, but by asking questiongs here and there on this forum i seem to have hit a few nerves. Hey who knows maybe all my questions will be answered when i throw down $ and time to go to a dojo, which i respect, but dont think i can commit to right now, so i figured some people with knowledge on the topic would be able to throw me a bone

judo is one of the best martial arts there is. i dont think people really realize that. you would rather throw your buddy in a dumpster and give him a stone cold stunner rather than train in one of the toughest and most effective martial arts there is?

I have some knowledge of grappling arts and trust me, you wouldn't last two days in a (hard core) Judo dojo.

You would hit the deck and complain it's too rough, cry to Sensei and quit... I've seen it time and time again.

You should GO SEE THE BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU. They will often let you participate in a lesson or two for FREE. (after you sign a waiver of liability).

Without (some) formal training you're just another "WANNABE" punk...

I think what it comes down to is that he is happy being just that, but he doesn't want to be called on it.

            Might I add -

i am NOT hating on judo, i love judo takedowns and technique. I have had a book called "best judo" out of the library for 2 months now.

and i am also not saying that i will enter some dojo and dominate true practicioners, i plan to get beat on severely, and hopefully gain allot of skill by realizing my weakness and seeing better technique

also, i have a friend who is doing some kind of kempo that is close to my house, they practice JJ and aikido there as well. He is setting up a session with a bunch of kids to do submission grappling so that i can come in and meet the head of the establishment and grapple with some guys.

i grappled with this kid a few days back and hes pretty good, and he thinks the "sensai?" (not insulting it, just cant spell...) will like me because i am very interested in what he teaches, so hey, maybe i will get into a dojo before college.

yep, those Judo guys just dominate MMA events, Pride and UFC....actually, has a Judo guy won any of those? usually they put up a "stall' for a while before getting beaten bloody or submitted, then kiss the ass of the guy who beat them

Actually, to just make a comment on the original posts and some follow up posts on the whole knee/leg lock issue.

At my school, only the instructor has been able to tap me out with anything to do with the legs (read rest of post). Im not even good or anything and some of them could make me tap with something else in about 20 seconds if they really tried I think. Whenever they go for the legs nothing happens.

I've seen people get done in by leg locks/knee bars, and I even let the instructor attempt to use whatever he wanted on me, I just laid there and let him have at my leg, kinda wanted to know what I was getting into , the one time he tapped me out, I let him try about 5 different submissions before he finally got me.

I dont know why this is, but you dont necessarily have the person tapping out if youve got them in the submission.

Just to further put my point out there, a former (dont know the year she won it) but think its former, or could even be current, womens Jiu Jitsu champion couldnt get me to tap out to leg locks. This is a women who choked me out without even trying to, I managed to choke myself lol.

                    to above post^

yea, its the same with one kid i grapple, his legs are HUGE and even though my technique is nice, he wont tap. i forget who said it, but having someone in a submission does not at all mean that they are tapping. Plenty of people reverse them, and plenty of people can slip out or are just too flexible.

                    to above above post^^

judo is a fine martial art, maybe knowing only judo will get you in some trouble, but hey, look at Kimura. Kimura broke Helio's arm in thier match, and don't tell me its just because he was a little bigger, even Helio isn't saying that. Judo has plenty of good technique and principle.

also, showing respect (win or loose) is not a bad thing, thats why i truely dislike Tito Ortiz, he poses and flicks up his middle fingers, points to his crotch like "yeah i'm a big, big man!" But he's really an ass.

BJJ is Basically Just Judo. Just modified for a one-on-one fight.

Yoshida is good. He went to two decisions with Vanderlai Silva. Anyone that can do that is good.

You just don't see as many top Judo guys in MMA because most top Judo athletes want to win an olympic medal.

Karo Parisyan has done well in the UFC. Yoshida has done well in Pride. A lot of Jiu-Jitsu Mundial Champions cross-train in Judo.

Judo isn't the end all be all. Neither is BJJ. Neither is boxing. Neither is Muay Thai. Neither is wrestling.

Each one has something unique to offer.

great post, i beleive the same. I think that when i get the opportunity i will train in all different kinds of martial arts to better understand technique, timing, body mechanics, momentum, ect... all legit martial arts are grounded in practicality and can be used well.

i just like to see some judo because hip springs, scarf holds, and all that is nice to watch.
