it was kinda like helios match with kimura, the judo man was bigger than him, but he doesnt complain about it. granted, yoshida is not as a grppler as kimura was IMO, but hes definutely one of the best out there. I do beleive that the match was relatively even, but that royce was going to tap, even if he did not. I would like ot see a rematch just for the sake of it, they are both amazing and really evenly matched, although yoshida did have a significant advantage at the end of thier 1st match.

Dude, there WAS a rematch. Not last New Year's Eve, but the one before. It was declared a draw.
I talked to Royce before it, and he was adament then that he didn't tap in the first one and that it was an unfair decision. He's a pretty cool guy, and I feel sure that if he fought someone who actually tapped him, he'd admit it. The dude trained with RICKSON as a kid - of course he was tapping left, right and centre for most of his childhood! He's certainly not above tapping.

i did not know about the rematch, i probally was in italy at the time the rematch was made, we dont get pride over there... anyways thanks for informing me.... but i still belieeve there should be a rematch since the second fight's outcome was a draw....and yes i do believe that yoshida had a great advantage when royce supposively tapped out in the first one, but you never know how spontaneous royce can be, jiu jitsu is part of his instinct .

-ROYCE pounded him in the rematch,. In the first fight, Royce did not tap at all and was not anywhere near choking.......watch the tapes, immedieatly after the fight Royce says to Yosida " you know I didnt tap, tell the ref, you know it, you know it" and the asshole ignored Royce and wallowed in victory

Royce didnt tap, but if you watch the video you can see as soon as yoshida puts the phantom choke on, royce started to struggle and tried to punch to the head. But his other hand(left) went from resting on his own leg to going limp. He obviously wasnt out due to the fact that he jumped up straight away after the fight was called but the refs job is to look after the competitiors and he made what he thought was the right call, knowing that royce would probably never tap and would rather go unconcious.
In the sec fight i wouldnt go that far too say he pounded yoshida, but he would have taken the decision but the rules they had set for the match, forbid decisions. But neither of them really looked like they were in trouble of getting subbed.
