I don’t think Tyson or any other top contender would stand a chance(to get off) against someone who knows how to close a distance. Notice I didn’t say a grappler.
Take for example a kid who's been training in bjj (or any grappling style) for 5 years (or more) that has started every sparing match on his knees. Never once started from standup, and to make matters worse he's naturally a little slow on the reflexes. If he fought Tyson, the smell of ko would be in the air. My money would be on Tyson.
Take another kid who has done no grappling, no takedowns, and no striking. His style is closing the distance and holding. Thats all he trains for and he’s very good at it. It will be a boring fight, but there will be no winner, because mike would never get a chance to hurt him.
Obviously my point is, if you don't want to see the ko power of a guy like Tyson, you never have to. IF you are trained in closing the distance. Now if you want to beat him, obviously you don’t want to trade with him, so you had better know takedowns, and submissions.
That said I personally know white belts that I think can tie up, and tap Tyson. They have sufficient stamina, they are quick enough, have trained in closing the distance, and know enough submissions. On the other hand, I know higher ranking guys who I cant say the same about. They know tons of moves, but they are slow on their feets, not physically strong enough, and lack in heart(wobbling knees).
My opinion
