  • How do people get into the UFC or Pride?

Okay, so I've been getting many of the old UFC events on DVD from Netflix and something has come to my attention and I was wondering if anybody here knew the answer. How do people get into the UFC? Are there agents that the UFC sends to different MMA competitions? Do fighters that come out of certain camps, such as Militech, get almost a guarentee to be in the UFC?

I ask this, because I've noticed that in the lighter divisions (mainly lightweight) the fighters will be making their UFC debut but they will have 40+ MMA fights under their belt, whereas in that same event Chuck Liddell was in a fight and he only had about 15 fights under his belt.

So how do they determine who is going to be in the UFC? Is it similar to pro-wrestling in the sense that they are looking for charismatic fighters? Please help me understand!

Working up the MMA circuit by fighting in local, then regional MMA events.

    That's my guess..

      From the UFC website:
Q: How do I get into the UFC?

A: Fighting in the UFC requires years of training and fighting experience. If you think you've got what it takes, send a VIDEO TAPE of your fights, and a short bio to:

      UFC Fighter Info
      Attn: Sean Shelby
      PO Box 26959
      Las Vegas, NV 89126

DO NOT send anything that does not include a video tape
      .

I am just wondering, how much did those Italian guys pay, when they bought the UFC?
