  • BJJ in San Francisco

Carley Gracie has a school in San Francisco and one in Vallejo I believe.
Can anyone tell me who teaches at his schools?Does Carley teach?

Are there any other good BJJ schools in that area?

ralph is right in SF now too, along with his brother charles about 5 miles away.

I went to carley's place before to watch, and it was strange. they were real uneasy about letting me see what they were doing, and basically wouldn't let me get a feel for the class at all by watching. carley was also much more expensive than the others. I wouldn't suggest it based on this experience.

BTW...when I stopped in to visit carley was there with a gi on and teaching everything. they seemed like an OK bunch of people, just didn't understand the "you can't watch the class" sort of thing.

on the other hand, I went and watched a class at ralphs the same time, about 3 years ago. after class ended I hung around for a few minutes to talk to ralph, but he got really busy talking to students so I just walked out and left. as I am getting into my car, ralph comes out the front door of the academy just to catch me to say bye and thank me for stopping over. very cool guy.

I had a class at charles place once before too, he also seemed like a really good guy.

              Hey Dan, what's up?

You coming down from the mountain and heading to the big city to train?

wrasslin' bears and catching fish with the hands ain't challenging enough for you?

My oldest brother just bought a yacht and invited me to come down for some shark fishing(not with my hands). He lives on it,and I thought as long as I am down there.

At least we have one family member who is doing well.
