I've trained in BJJ and wrestling on and off. I trained in BJJ first, so that was my starting point in grappling. After training in wrestling, I noticed that other guys who are pure BJJ seemed passive & patient, while wrestling seems more active & athletic.

But at the end of the day, I still get sub'd and learn to correct mistakes where I can.

I think very highly of BJJ's technical and flowing style. It has alot to offer.

i started off wrestling first before i did bjj and i realized the same thing that alot, not all but alot of straight up bjj people are very passive.ive done bjj for almost 3 years and im a blue belt and i combine my wrestling and bjj with a little judo.being agressive helps alot,it can break peoples spirits and will to fight when your being agressive and you dont get tired.this whole time they are waiting for you to make a mistake and get tired and you dont and then yea there finished

JkD187, I did a seminar with Cleber Luciano a few months ago, and he pretty much said the same thing. He's an aggressive grappler, and he's always going for something, and it tends to wear his partners' spirits down.

If you havent tried it, go into a studio and see for yourself, Boarspear that includes you.

BJJ and Judo are two sides of the same damn coin... Judo guys can't finish, eh? Wish I had 50 bucks for every blue belt that tapped to my Judo...

I have trained with two blackbelts in BJJ, one was a 5th Dan who has already been named in this thread. I consider them my peers regardless of the color or the number of stripes on their Obi.

I don't have any judo training, but its good to see others who have the same experience and similar results. I enjoy wrestling, because it just feels more natural to press the action, then when you need a break you can go passive and capitalize on your partners mistakes - assuming you are grappling with submission and not pinning rules.

That's why 7 minutes of wrestling feels like 7 hours!

I once enjoyed about 7 seconds of grappling (standing) before I got thrown so hard I was pooping blood for about 7 days...
