cmon are we talking about best fighters in the world alive today, or are we talking about your fav UFC hero who you worship, yeah ufc is alright but it proves nothing of there real fighting ability, shifu yanzi would rip them apart if they were to fight him with no rules, gloves, and no ring, be serious guys those ufc heros of yours are for your entertainment, yeah alot of them are ok fighters, but compared to a shaolin monk who trains for the duration of every day he has lived since the age of 3, they dont cut it, real shaolin monks are above a human level, i train damn hard every day since i was 4 years old, im a good fighter, but compared to a shaolin monk at my temple, or other temples across the world, i am nothing. has anyone here ever felt how hard a shaolin monks body is?, my shifu lets me hit him over the head with solid iron rods, bricks, concreat slabs, solid 2 by 4 sticks, im telling you those UFC heros of yours would not damage these monks, i dont care if your tank abbot or tito ortis, or any of them other big guys, there are guys bigger than tank at the temple, and shifu yanzi and the other real shaolin monks, wipe the floor with the big guys who are ex boxers and MMA fighters, they give it all they have and dont even do a thing to the monks, im not dissrespecting anyone for having a UFC hero or "Fav" but i have witnessed power alot stronger than anything those guys do on TV or in the gym, shaolin monks are the ultimate warriors, its been proven to me countless times face to face, if i cant even knock a monk down with a 2 by 4, or solid iron pole, i dont see how there gonna harm them either, and as for grappling, dont anyone ever say shaolin monks cant grapple, its like grappling with a super human with barbed iron hands, my gong fu uniform gets ripped to shit just by yanzis hands grappling with me, does anyone know what mercy or peanuts is? well dont play this game with a real shaolin adult monk, my hands are big and quite strong, the monks hands are smaller than mine ut there 10 times as tough and durable, he feels no pain in his hands, it feels like im squeezing some kind of hard granite rock and it just wont budge, there strenth amazes me every time i go to the temple, and i strive to be as good as they are, there conditioning training is second to none, your UFC guys punch bags with gloves on, and go jogging, etc these monks punch walls with bare knuckles very hard for hours on end, they thrust there hands into sharp iron shards for like 2 hours and dont bleed, im on bean iron sand palm training, i cant do the shards i tried once with shifu yanzi and it cut my hands open after 2 mins of i, but i carried on for 10 mins until yanzi stopped me for getting to much blood in the bucket, and i had to wash it out in the courtyard in center of the temple,

but anyways yeah my conclusion is UFC fighters are limited to rules and gloves, padding etc they in my opinion would get ripped apart by a 30+ year old shaolin monk, in a no holds bared fight ont he street with no witnesses. im basing this on facts i hav seen, ive trained with good MMA and good Shaolin monks, my decision has been firmly made that monks are supirior in mind, body, chi, spirit, skill and knowlegde, and overall toughness, they also train a hell of alot tougher and vigorously. i know alot of you have other opinions but seriously have you trained with real shaolin monks????.

      Hi Gong Fu.

I have a lot of respect for your attitude, and the fact that you want to test yourself, but events like UFC and (my favourite) PRIDE in Japan have shown experienced traditional martial artists to be lacking time and time again. Don't get me wrong, I was a student of Japanese Ju Jutsu for years before I started BJJ, but in my opinion most of the traditional arts (including Kung Fu of one style or another) simply aren't practical. Beautiful to watch, good for the soul etc., but not practical.

The early UFC's used no gloves, and had very few rules (even groin strikes were legal), and not one traditional martial artist proved his art. You can say that they weren't 'real' fights, but they were pretty close. If you need further video evidence, check out the 'Gracies In Action' DVD's - you'll see plenty of traditional martial artists challenging the family - always with the same result.

I'm happy to be proven wrong - if you can show me video evidence of Kung Fu/Gong Fu winning over MMA/BJJ/Mai Thai then I'm willing to be convinced.

Anyway, we're off the thread... How about a mention for Helio Gracie? At 93 & still going strong. Must be worth a mention...

yeah but what mctemple did those gong fu fighters come from, has a real gong fu master ever entered UFC ? and in ufc have they ever held an event where the best gong fu masteres and students have entered where they were allowed to use there style in every aspect?, eye gauging should be allowed, twisting off somebodys balls with your hands should be allowed, palm smashes to the back of the neck, and every other deadly move taught to true gong fu fighters, if all of these moves are allowed then you can compare, but anyway seriously the gong fu fighters you see on tv are not the real deal, bring your ass down to a real shaolin temple with any UFC hero you want and start a fight with the highest ranking monk there, and see how far your hero gets,

"do you like swiss cheese on your hero"?
        papoose,

Sapatiero has great points above. I have a very close friend who is a practicing accupuncturist and Massage therapist who studied traditional chinese medicine for years as well as being very highly ranked in the southern mantis system. This guy LOVED true chinese gung fu. Studied it night and day along with the TCM. But today the guy is a purple belt in BJJ. He doesn't keep up his mantis training. Truth is all pervading.

The eye-gouging and twisting off someones' balls argument (which is amazing that it is still out there)...has 2 major flaws.

1-It just seems funny that so much time is put into crisp punches, and high sidekicks yet the traditional gong fu man's actual tactics in a true battle is the scrotum twist...thats what it all comes down to?

2-Those who pose the "balls-twisting" argument always seem to fail to remember that if "ball-twisting" were allowed...they wouldn't be the only ones who could do it. ---Your face to face with rickson, at the sound of the bell..we're gonna see who can twist who's balls off first. Who do you think has a better shot?

lol gong fu, what a joke... you honestly expect us to believe you hit one of your masters in the head with a pole as hard as you could, or a 2 by 4 and it didnt hurt him... thats complete and utter bs, what is he a rhinocerous?... teaching Rhin-Char Fu.... Short for the... Rhino Charge your ass Fu...

Haha rhin char fu... youd prolly believe that if your "monk" had told you thats what he was doing...

its a biological, phsyiolical.. logical, physical , undisputed fact... if a grown male, I assume your grown, well say anywhere from 14-60 years.. although this could be broadened.. hits someone in the head with a metal pole... they are going down.. if its not ... sign yourslef or your master over on a waiver and let me smack you....

aah yeah know what.. im just gona stop here and post this... cause its pointless..

I hope everyone know I was joking about that! Tank has lost more fights than he has won. He doesn't respect MA styles and he looks like he trains in a pool hall. hahahah I'm sorry for the confusion. I like Mark Kerr a lot. I know he's not fighting anymore but he was great.

samuraiguy? haha whata re you talking about, you obviously havent done your research into shaolin gong fu have you? you dont believe that monks can withstand blows to the skull from iron poles or bricks or 2 by 4's?, go to a temple and see it for yourself or ask any other practising shaoling gong fu student on this forum as to what shaolin monks can withstand, maybe you should do your reaserch into the abilities of the trained human mind and body, do you really think you could swing a piece of wood at shifu yanzi or another monks skull and knock him down? you are not aware of shaolin abilities my friend.

shifu yanzi can also put a spear against his throat and butt end on the floor, and push down on the spear tip with his neck bending the pole in 2 against the floor untill its on breaking point, i suppose you also dispute this, yet another thing ive witnessed with my own eyes, does he also not walk on hot coals? and he really cant kick through a concrete slab a real thick slab not no fake rebreakable shit, or with some spacers, none of that, the monks break real shit, real bricks, real 2 by 4's real iron poles, yes iron poles over there skull, and yes without feeling it or flinching 1 inch, yes i have punched the guy, yes it hurt my hand, and yes my hands are conditioned to an extent, and yes id rather hit a wall than yanzis skull.

                      the truth i speak.

You do realize how much of a disservice you provide to your style by making these staements. Noone with honor fights as you suggestThese are combat sporting events not death matches, what century are you from? I hate when someone uses that rhetoric about "but they don't let us use allthe techniques" Your style is more that a few dirty movesor it is shit ...simple. I have heard the aregument from JKD and wing chun people how the styyle is not meant for the ring (and it is not) but it can be adapted...well

I just don't understand why they don't allow downwards elbows...it seems to be the could be used all the freaking time.

Rather than someone on his knees crouched over with his hands over his head while you try to punch his head, you could do a super mega ultra downwards elbow to the top of his head!!!!

okay, maybe I answered my own question.

                                Gong Fu

This is meant to be funny(somewhat retarded too) so, don't take it all that seriously. Ask shifu yanzi if you can hit him with a 2 x 4 and when he allows you to, whip out a 9mm and shoot him in the head, see if it hurts him. Tell me the result(s) after your done. I guess Superhumans can't even withstand bullets, And you know it's Sad But True. I've almost came to the reality that fighting is useless and hand to hand combat died along time ago, its basicly just a "sport" now". Besides there's so many people packing heat nowa days that if you try to intimidate them or if they feel threatened they'll just shoot your ass. Street fights are defintly in no way like being in the ring. If you wanna (try to) stay alive just pack some type of semi-automatic and be aware of your surroundings. If your realy paranoid about dying or getting your ass whooped join the army or police, even though in both you have a chance of getting killed so lol. Alot of you are probably thinking wtf does this have to do with the thread...not much just posting a random comment.
