  • Using a Cup for protection (comfort)

I am going to try a new gym Tuesday for MA classes. For sparring I'm going to bring a cup. The kind I have is the pair of tight underwear/shorts that has the pocket in the crotch area for the cup. In the past I've used the kind with just a jockstrap. Both kinds are very uncomfortable. It's the largest size and I'm sure it's the right size for my body, it just seems like a bad design. I just rolled around a few times and it felt really bad. It seemed like I'd have to adjust it every time I changed position. It seems like it's protecting the pubic bone area more than the actual genital area. I know I'm wearing it properly just like the instructions say. It almost seems like it hurts more to wear it than to just get kicked in the sack without it. It seems like just walking with it almost crushes my sack if I wasn't constantly adjusting it. Does anyone have some advice for me?

When I watch MMA fights, I don't ever see the guys adjusting theirs or even being affected by it. I don't want to end up tapping because of my damn cup! Any help you would appreciated.

Are there different types of cups?

I'm sure there is a better way. Everyone seems to move freely and they don't appear to be bothered by them.

its probably too big for you...if its covering your whole pubic bone. Not to be a smartass, but try a smaller size. Tell you what though, you dont want to go without it. Once you get nailed a couple times in class, a cup becomes part of your everyday practice gear.

          cup size

actually the cup isn't the problem- it seems like to jock strap or the tight shorts hold it up in the wrong position. I tried to let the shorts sag down and that helped, but I wouldn't be able to throw kicks like that. I tried holding it over my sack the way that I would want it...the shorts hold it up too high. It's(the cup) not too big because the lowest part of the cup is right at the half way point of my sack, almost makes me scared that if a knee or foot hit the cup, it would press it into me and crush my sack. I understand that this is pretty silly but I had a serious question in mind. I DO appreciate your answers, hopefully I'll be able to figure something out. It seems to me that if I cup was really in the right place, you wouldn't be able to see it through the shorts. Your "equipment " is really between the legs so it seems like they would have the pocket lower to protect it. Oh well, I'll see what I can figure out. Thanks guys.

I got it taken care of! 2 in 1 cups are the best

Thanks for the ideas. I went to K-mart and they had some BS cheap cup. It was funny because I saw some guy from highschool I haven't seen in years in the sporting good department. "Hey man, what are you getting?" "A cup". hahah I got a new design from a real sporting goods store that has a hard front part, but the part that touches your thighs is a soft rubber material so it doesn't poke into you like the other kind. Also the one that I had(the bad one) was bought when I was 30lbs heavier so that might make a difference too. Anyway thanks for the help. We can let this silly post fade away. Sorry for the sillyness of a few of the comments.
