I do only no-gi but i have done gi before...my arm triangle/kimura chain is my icing on the cake when in the guard....in side control its the keylock/kimura/180 degree armbar...back mount its rnc/figure 4/crossface umm mount my fav is the arm/triangle/armbar/arm scissors/triangle armbar combo.Leg locks are awesome too i have a few achilles to heel hook to step over toe holds in there also.

From under full mouth shrimp out like you're trying to do the basic elbow-knee, except do it very hard, shooting your hips way out and making a lot of space. So, say you do this to your left, throw your left leg over your opponent's right leg, grab your own left foot and hook your right knee over it. From there go for ankle lock, heel hook, etc.

I've read your post like 3 or 4 times now I'm still a little confused, can you explain it a little better, my jui jitsu escapes and reversals arn't my strong point.

penace that is a pretty good one.I think i can try and explain a bit....your opponent has you mounted....your elbow escpae or shrimp (it can be done many ways) to one side....explode to create space(explode away from your opponent)throw your leg over and lace his leg then proceed to set up an achilles or heel hook.

kk. what about an overhook on one of their arms and then on the same side as the overhook, using your other arm, push it up there along his head all the way up to your tricep and then just push him off to the opposite side of your overhook. kind of like a front headlock on him.

Unless he posts with his leg, gives up the mount, and armbars the left arm you've given him.

Cosed Guard, (gi or no gi)

Sit up grab high around opp.'s chest, fall back. Trap his arm between own head and shoulder, Scoot hips out, pressing arm lock.

He defends by twisting his elbow so it's pointing down, flow to spinning arm bar.

He defends by pulling his arm out, flow to omoplata.

He defends by rolling out of it, flow to mount.

He catches your leg as it's coming back into position, flow to triangle choke.

Simple one for no gi (works with gi, but guillotines are a little harder to get with a gi on)

Closed guard - Sit up for kimura, hip-bump sweep, or guillotine. Your opponent's defending one (depending how he does so) will usually give you one of the others.

They should be the first thing you should master. Submissions are the most fun part of jiujitsu, but escapes and reversals are the most important.

Thanks man, I preciate all the input, the reason I'm not up on the BJJ escapes and reversals is I'm and ex-gymnast and I'm felxible as hell so most guys can't get in the position to tap me. But I'll take the advice. There arn't any JJ or BJJ clubs in driving distance of where I live, can u recomend and vids or books that have really good escapes and reversals in em? I don't see my BJJ friend cept on the weekends.

                          Flexibility is a huge advantage!

Roy Harris' BJJ 101 is a good video to start out with. He REALLY stresses positional escapes. http://royharris.com
