BJJ is a science, it cannot be defeated when applied correctly. Whatever the new ways, BJJ as the ground or anything very similar has to be the ground tool. What else can one do on the ground? How many ways to escape the mount, get the mount., control the side, etc....these things are the basics that wont change., takedowns, etc, throws. It comes down to someone making a mistake or being just a little slower in applying a move or strike that determines the best from the 2nd best.

Nothing is undefeatable.. And no one can use any art 100% effectively so hes bound to make a mistake. What if someone uses Muay thai/boxing/karate correctly, its the same thing every art can be good if it is applied correctly, not only bjj.
