  • broken jaw....

I posted this on the boxing thread and didnt get much responce, so i'll ask here....

I naturally dont shut/clench my teeth, (altough my lips are shut) but recently i have been thinking that maybe this makes me vunerable to getting a broken jaw?

My question is, should i clench my teeth when fighting/sparring?

Get used to biting down on your mouth guad.

If you're not clenching your jaw, then the laws of physics say you're just making a class 2 lever out of your jaw.

The human jaw bone, teeth, and skull are designed to absorb impacts when clenched. I don't mean bear down and clench as hard as you can. That's bad for your teeth and jaw. I mean, just, keep your teeth together and clench lightly, especially when you're about to get hit.
