  • Over training

One of the practioners in my KSW school trains a lot. I mean a lot. After a lesson of KSW he goes home and practices Kuk Sool Won, when he wakes up the next day he practices some more, its got to the point now where all he does is train, he doesn't have a social life. I know its a passion but do you think this is taking it too far, especially in todays social independant life style, or do you think that he is just following a dream of his and that his 'behaviour' is quite 'exceptable'? Is there anyone on this forum who does the same?
BTW in no way am i dissing anyones life style.

I think good for him, I wish I could be that dedicated lol. He wont do it for all his life, he'll eventually snap out of it and train a little less to have a social life and I bet lots of people would like to meet a guy like that, its considered interesting.

As long as he is happy I would say he is in good shape. I used to be the same when it came to "agressive" rollerblading. Eat + sleep + skate.

Sad as it may be but I think I fall well into your category. I left my home 6 months ago, moved to LA to train. Next I go to Brazil for 6 months then home.

I wake in the morning and work out on weights, I run or cycle to the academy and do 2.5 to 3 hours of lessons. I go back to my appartment and rest. I go back to the academy in the evening for another 2.5 to 3 hours lessons. That's mon, tues, Thurs, fri. Wed, I do weights, 14 mile bike ride, Spar in the evening 1 to 1.5 hours. Sat it's up, weights, cycle to the academy for 3 hours of lessons and 1 hour spar. Sun cycle 14 miles. I have never felt better, I have learnt a massive amount and I am loving every minute of it.

No. I managed to engineer the opportunity to quit my job and just train full time for a year. When I get back home I will very much need to earn some money but will have had the best year of my life!
