How many of you believe that BJJ is substantially different from Judo? I am curious because it seems to me that if you focus on ne-waza almost exclusively, any judoka can be as effective on the ground as a BJJ practicioner.
Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to knock BJJ (I train it myself) but I have done Judo too and even now I reference my "Judo in Action" books for chokes and pins and my grappling has improved.
Other than focus on a particular facet, it doesn't seem to me like there is any difference between the two arts.
