          Wasn't Wing Chun supposed to be a feminist MA?

          In all seriousness, I'm all for empowerment, but if they're trying to foist what I've seen on the website as practical self-defense for women, I'm a little worried. I saw a lot of hip chambered karate-punches. Taiji and leaping backfists? It's great for recreation, but this is scary.

            Wu Chien Pai is the martial arts system, founded by Dr. Alexander Feng of Berkeley, Calif. (Wu Tao Kuan). It is rooted in the Five Element theory of Chinese Medicine and Taoism, and the traditional arts of Gong Fu, Judo, Jujitsu, Taiji, Meditation, and Healing arts. We also incorporate weapons and other forms of movement and meditation.
            That's their description of the art - meditation, healing, chinese medicine... they aren't claiming to teach self-defense. Even the 'self-defense' section implies self-awareness and avoidance are the focus.

            So, lets be fair here, they aren't calling it self-defense, therefore we can't bag it for being poor self-defense any more than we can bag fencing for being poor self-defense.

            What we should be bagging is that it's just one more of the ten-thousand 'new' martial arts somebody just made up for their own self-aggrandizement

                SO much better

                And CkeGirl isn't even a feminist either! It's like, my birthday or something.

                I say **** this feminist martial art shit, I could say the most vulgar things right now and you would all laugh and I would love it because I would be pointing out all the things that need to be pointed out about these stupid women, but then I would get kicked off the board and I wouldn't be able to enjoy your laughter.

                :{
