You're definitely in the wrong forum for this but I will attempt to answer your question.
Truth is that if you ask this question to 10 different hapkido practioners you will get 10 different answers. The early proponents of Hapkido cross trained in various arts such as Tae Kyun, Tae Kwon Do, Kuk Sul, Yu Sul, Yudo, Judo, Jujitsu Karate, SSsirum, Mongolian Wrestling, the list goes on and on. Most Hapkido traces its lineage back to Choi, Young Sul who taught Dae Dan Ryu Yu Sul (Daito Ryu Aikijutsu).
My teacher started his MA training in Judo/Jujitsu so our school was a bit unusual in that we tend to go to the ground more readily and we trained against progressive resistance.
Striking to kicking ratio is hard to pin down, we problably use more open hand strikes.
As far as fine motor movements being ineffective in a real fight, that is correct. If you are using fine motor movements for joint locking then you are not training properly.

Kdh.....
Like medic said, it depends on whom you train with.
If you train in someone who sticks with a traditional lineage, the hand techniques are allmost identical to karate styles: lunge punch, reverse punch, ridge hand, palm, spear hand, knife hand, spear etc.
These strikes are mostly used to inflict maximal damage by striking at weak spots or as counter strikes to close the gap and get a joint lock.
If you train in the more combative hapkido, you'll probably get some boxing techniques mixed in with your knife hand, hammer fist and some elbow work.

heh, noticed noone answered this question with a quick scan through... so let me just have a go...
Bruce Lee... Matt Hughes could take em, GSP too, no doubt in my mind on either..
Fedor could knock the shit out of any of the others, same with big nog and mirko cro cop, arvloski could prolly do it too,
Rich Franklin could prolly knock some sense into them too, Im not sure about the others weights... but I guess weight isnt a factor because of the TMA and no weight classes in that.... Wandy silva could destroy some of these people... ahh who else... really any of the top mma guys could maul these guys your mentioning..

Taekwondo lacks emphasis on hand techniques. But does Hapkido teach good hand technique and put them into practice?
Why not enroll in a hapkido school for a year and see for yourself?

So all in all Hapkido is an effective system, in your opinions, no?
And to you people who think Matt Hughes would haven beaten Bruce... please..... wake up from your UFC dream.... please. do the MA world a favor and stop deluding yourselves. the best fighters of humankind existed before UFC was ever even thought of. go educate yourselves and don't base your views on shitty TMA artists that chose to jump into the octagon

Oh, you must have been trained at one of those 'mcdojangs'. You should go to Korea where every single TKD training center is the toughest place on earth, then your hand skills would be super deadly.
