For the people who said no. I can see why they started training in martial arts, but for the people who already knew how to fight without any training. Why did you start if you already know how to fight?

I think its interesting, thats allI never got in lots of street fights but when I did occasionally I could hold my own and I was usually on top. I think its interesting, besides even if I know how to fight before taking martial arts, would i know how to put an armbar a good kick to the leg etc.. how to unarm an armed attacker. Maybe I can but martial arts just makes sure you can. I think its something special, just put someone who "knows" how to fight and dosen't take any martial arts against any1 and put an experienced martial artist. You take less hits and you end the fight more quickly. And I also like sport martial arts, no1 can know absolutely everything about martial arts before he starts training no matter how much he "knew" how to fight.
Overall its a good source of fitness, confidence, a possiblity to meet new people while training and self defense. So many possibilities.

The funniest thing I ever saw involved a friend of mine with no martial arts experience.
It was shortly after high school and we were about 21 years old at the time, and we were having a end of year party at a seasonal shop in a mall. A crowd of high schoolers came by, and saw us in the closed shop (through the glass doors)drinking, and asked if they could come in. We told them politly "no" and that is was a closed party.
One of the kids kept on insisting, and he started getting beligerant. So, my friend opens up the door again and told the kid to go F off, and the kid reaches through the glass and pops my friend in the face!
well, my friend went nuts...opened up the door and attacked 7-8 of the kids. Rapid punches, kicks, back-fists, hammer-fists...it was truly amazing! Mutiple attackers, and he looked like Jet Li out there!
This guy has never taken a martial arts class, but he is a vicious and brutal fighter when bothered. The rest of the time, he is easy going and polite.
Since I don't have that natural ability, and want to get into better shape, martial arts is the way to go for me...but for my friend, he would probably never take a class!!
Funny thing is, both of us are in our 40's now, but this guy can still kick ass! I have seen him do it a few times!
