....even with a major size difference

A welterweight with decent hands could floor a cruiserweight. Seen it happen.

Also saw a middlweight go toe to toe with a heavyweight and stand about even. How do they do it?

Its all about getting your weight behind the punch. Its why when you train boxing they stress form and weight transfer so much. Some people are just naturally good at it too. Combine that with hitting on the right spot (right on the side of the jaw in that example), and it can be pretty devastating. Its also why they stress keeping your hands up and guarding your jaw and tucking your chin. Size can matter if both fighters are of equal skill, but if a smaller guy has better techinique, better defense, knows where and how to hit, he'll win. (like in that video!)

Hi Jeff, I've trained a little in boxing and understand the mechanics.

What I am referring to guys who can stand toe to toe with bigger ones and seem to brush off the punishment, like Marciano. Probably genetics plus experience, I suppose.

Hehe yeah some guys can take a larger beating than others. Either from experience or just like you say from genetics. It could also be that they don't take the shots full on, roll with the punches, etc. They may just be really good. I wouldn't personally try it though!

Allready played the roll as cannon fodder for a heavyweight . I only do this now and then because I like to continue training.

                "Good" is the key word.
Too often people think that tapping a jaw will cause a knock out.
