    Wow, that was pretty harsh

Good thing I'm neither a Sak worshipper, or a Gracie hater.

    I'm a grappler

Arrogance seems to run through the Gracie family. I can't believe he said that Sak is not a good fighter. Even after beating 3 Gracies!

BTW, I am not a Gracie hater. I respect everything about them, except for the fact that they are pretty arrogant and tend to dodge questions in interviews.

Has Rickson ever complemented ANY fighter other than the BJJ guys?

Athletes like Ali probably never said good things about other fighters either. If anything he publicly insulted them. Does he qualify as being arrogant? Probably.

You know what, I bet if you asked rickson if he thinks most of his brothers or cousins are great fighters, he would say no. So why would he think sak is great? I think sak is great! But that’s me. I'm comparing sak to myself and the opponents that he beat. Rickson is just basing his comments on his abilities, and he's not sugar coating anything.

If you reread the original post, Rickson didn't say Sak wasn't a good fighter. He said he wasn't a great puncher or Submission fighter. That is different. Rickson was commenting on what he saw as Sak's strengths and weaknesses. That's part of what makes Rickson a great fighter is his ability to read his opponent.

I watched the CHOKE video and I was really impressed with his preparations for a fight and some of the discussions in the waiting room in-between his fights. Any fighter who preps like Rickson does and has the technical ability Rickson does is a great fighter.

Besides that, he goes about it the right way; he is a professional, meaning he fights for money. He doesn't fight because his brother lost or his dog died or whatever other reason. You have to respect that.

sccr06- if you're refering to my post, you're right I made an error based on the orginal post.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree. Basically what I'm saying is that rickson calls it as it is based on his technical expertise. If he dosnt think sak is a good puncher or submission guy then thats his opinion. I dont understand why everyone gets all bent out of shape about it. How many fighters(that has never grappled with rickson or maybe dosnt fully understand submission) have already picked rickson as a loser against sak. Why don't their public comments recieve heat for being disrespectful, whatever? Why is rickson or any gracies comments or actions always under a microscope? Thats what I don't understand.

I just think this guy's technical skills and professionalism are at a level that the average person dosnt understand. They just want action! at all cost.

Personally (I changed my views) I dont think he has to fight anyone, because he dosnt have nothing to prove.

cello- actually I was referring to Grahf1's post and trying to back up your post. I agree with you 100%. What does he have to prove? Actually, I am surprised the man is still fighting at all. He is what? 40? 41? Gotta be hard on the body at that age no matter what kind of shape you are in.

People do give Rickson too hard of a time. He is actually thoughtful, intelligent, technically astute, and mostly respectful of other fighters.

What many people have a problem with though, and to a certain extent I do too, is he doesn't give Sak his due. He has said that Sak has no aura (huh?), and implies that Sak isn't anything special - he just sits back until people give him openings. What the f__?

I don't need to remind people who Sak has defeated. And the WAY he's done it is also phenomenal. Can anybody point out to me who has had mount, side control, or any top controlling position on him for any appreciable length of time in his numerous fights? (Kimo was a work. Sak has said many times his first NHB match was against Conan).

Rickson, give the guy his due. He's defeated 4 of your brothers, who are all good or great fighters.

Well,I think that Rickson is just speaking his mind.People do put the Gracies under microscope, and lie about them.Especially people on the UG.One guy starts a rumor or srtiaght up lie and fools beleive it.Like,Pride actually offerd Rickson 5 Million dollars anyway.

sakattack - did it ever occur to you that maybe his comments are also a way of psyching out sak for a possible matchup. Fighters are usually truthful of what they say or show after a fight. I'm sure if rickson lost to sak he would give him his respect. But at this point why should he feel and show it(we might feel that way) for sak? But we don't have to fight sak so its alright for us, but for him, it wouldn’t be in his best interest.

In my opinion, I think renzo went in there with a tab too much respect.

Cello - you might have a point and I don't rule it out. The problem is Rickson has never indicated through words or actions that he wants to go anywhere near Sak. Secondly, if he wants to psych Sak out, he's doing a poor job of it.

If he thinks he might fight Sak one day, he should build up the potential event to ask for even more money. Rickson initially underestimated Sak - we all did. In hindsight, the Royler fight should never have happened. Rickson said at the time that although Sak was a good fighter, Royler's techniques would defeat Sak.

Now, Rickson just has a hard time giving Sak some props.

Actually, Rickson did say that Royce is a great fighter. I don't see how he can say Royce is a great fighter and then say that Sak is not a good submission fighter. I wonder what he would say if someone asked him what he thought about Sak's victory over Royce. And about sak not being good at punching, well at least he punches!

After hearing how close the Sak X Renzo fight was, then listening talking how much better Rickson is than him,I would say that Rickson can/will take Sak.

The Kimo fight was a work?...
Looked pretty realistic for a work...

                              Kimo just overpowered him...

sakattack - From that interview Rickson clearly indicated what he wants to come near, money. I dont see how calling out sak publicly will make this happened. All the promotors need is capital. An event like this would promote itself.

I think you're right about him underestimating sak early on. And I guess he might have a little too much faith in his brothers abilities as fighters, and their limitations. But he's not his brothers.

Grahf1 - that would be a good question to ask. Maybe the issue that has the interview goes into it.

Martial Artist - rickson can easily submit renzo(and Im not talking about with a gi). Since sak is mostly a grappler, I see a much more difficult fight for him against rickson.
