  • Minor ankle lock injury

Last week, I was rolling and got caught in an ankle lock. I almost got out of it so I didn't tap, but then he arched back a bit more, and my ankle popped a bit...sorta like a loud version of you cracking your knuckles...so I tapped. Nothing really bad out of that...just a bit sore and I felt like I had to stretch out my ankle. I rolled a bit more after that even.
Later that night it hurt more, and the next day, it felt like a slightly sprained twisted ankle. I could still walk normally, but it would hurt a bit if I stretched out my ankle or sat on it. The outer ankle bone was very slightly puffy and felt like a big bruise when I pressed on it.

Over a week later, it isn't as bad, but it still feels like a big bruise whenever I extend it too much or sit on it. Anyone experience this before? I hope it goes away soon. I thought it would be better by now. It's not bad enough to stop me from doing my normal activities, but it is annoying.

If it doesnt hurt a LOT then your probably okay. I would lay off for a week or two (maybe trim off a couple training sessions here and there.)

For future refrence, and saving your training time frm becoming recovery time, be carefull about to ankle and knee attacks.

Not telling you to tap more or earlier, but keep your joint/muscle health in mind.

Alternate heat and ice. Take ibuprofin (anti-inflamatory).

Stay off it for a week, then make sure to tape it up well for another week or so during class. Ask people not to attack it until it's fully healed. If it still hurts after 2 weeks or if the pain is really bothering you, go see a doctor.
