  • the fence

ive read a lot of people saying the first thing id do in a real fight is id do this arm bar or id do that choke. surely the first thing you should be aiming for is the one punch knock out and useing your arm bars and chokes as a back up if this fails. training for this like you would anything else thousands of times over. in my opinion useing a fence to keep the distance and a right cross to the jaw are is the most effective thing you could do. this of course is on a one on one.but even with mutiple attackers useing a fence to keep distance and gauge the range is still the simpleist and most effective thing you could do.

I don't think more logical people would go for a takedown first in a street fight. The first thing is to never get in one (which is usually as easy as staying away from trashy clubs), but if it happens then a few quick strikes and a fast sprint is usually your best bet. I don't knwo what a fence is or why is it so dominant in street fighting. Also, your attack need not be a right cross, it could be a kick to the groin or an elbow.

Though, the skills of ground grappling are not invalid in the street as most people here will tell you of course. Many big meatheads like to throw headlocks or grab you from behind, and grappling arts have thier place. Obviously street grappling isn't going to be like you see it in Abu Dhabi tournaments, it will be quick and consice. By the same token, a street fight isn't going to be a boxing match either.
