        Bad Judo

Back breaker....that was one of the first things I was taught NOT TO DO in Judo/grappling. Sensei had a thing about hurting people. No spine breakers! He would say that's "good Jujutsu but BAD JUDO"! It's the whole mutual welfare and benifit thing...

        Sad!

I know thats your whole point but look at it like this.

If your playing football, at practice, you play within the rules to get better, you do it full speed, you tackle the guys full speed, etc.

When its the game time, you do the same thing.

            Are they the same though?

            Sparring is "football practice"

            Competition is "gameday"
The question is are you willing to ruin a guys life for a medal?
Personally, I wouldn't do it for whatever prize they can give, break a guys arm, put him to sleep but breaking the guys back is taking competition far too seriously.

You guys seem to mis understand me, I'm not condoning this guy breaking the other guys back, I'm sure he wishes he had never done it, and I'm sure it was an accident, I highly doubt he TRIED to break his back.

With that said, no I would not do that to win a competition.

There is a difference between sparring and competition though, in sparring you open your game, try new things, expose yourself, put yourself in bad positions, you learn.

In competition you close down and try to win, it is not sparring, its fighting under certain rules. Sparring is learning under certain rules. If the rules are the same, that makes no difference, sparring is learning, practice, competition is fighting, game day.

BoarSpear dont get your panties in a bunch that I said its fighting, its within the rules and I realize that, but there is a difference, I'm not saying its life or death, but it's still fighting.

thats actually a good triangle escape, step to the other side of the guys head and fall back, it works great, and sometimes it breaks the guys neck i guess

Pretty similar to one that works really well if someone comes up behind you at the ATM or against a car or wall, whatever. Put an arm up, pivot, etc. Cool thing about it is the harder they're pushing you, the better it works (the more momentum they will hit the car/wall/etc. with)
