Well, I'm jumping in on this one, 'cause I know a little something about punching mechanics and I am familiar with the "vertical fist" through JKD (from Wing Chun, yes?).

Yeah, the vertical fist CAN be used and it's a nice change of pace. But if you absolutely, positively want to drop that mother****** just do what Pit Dog/Joe has been saying all along here.

70% of your punching power comes from your legs and then, the subsequent rotation up through your body, etc.

But your answers are already here on this thread. Do what he says.

And by the way, WTF with the doppleganger "Joe" handle? We already got one Tyler Durden deal going on here--it's gonna give me a headache trying to keep track of the... well, ONE of you...

      Tony:

For a sure KO, gotta go with you and Joe/Pit. I was taught the typical horizontal fist, and there's no way I'm switching now. BTW, I was also taught the first two knuckles rule, so I gotta go with the canine one on this.

That said, I would probably soften the guy up with palms first before dropping the bomb.

      Later.

BTW, Pit insists that he and Joe aren't one and the same, but I ain't buyin' it. Nobody's THAT good an imp.

Oops, you're right. I forgot to mention that palm strikes are the safest and most preferable.

Re: Pit Dog not being Joe.

          Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
