Does anyone have any new or interesting side control escapes? It's the most difficult position for me to escape. I know many, and they all work, but not very well.

Getting out of side control is easy if they weight alot less than you or don't know what they are doing.
Go against someone with 20+ lbs on you, or who is good, and it's never as easy as "just do this."
Side control is just like guard. There's tons to it and you can spend a year or more on it, easily. Skill vs skill and weight vs weight you'll never just muscle out of it and not end up paying for it.
You need to learn the major postures and all the in betweens. You need to be able to flow from one to the other smoothly and link all the escapes together. You have to learn to set your opponent up to give you what you're looking for or what you can deal with.

Try looking at a smooth transition between guard and guard defence.
That is, be offensive in your guard, but don't fight beyond all hope to retain it or get a submission on.
When you realise that they've passed the point of no return and they're going to get to side control, that's when you need to be defending against it. Not when they've got side control and established it. (Which is extremely difficult to escape if you're opponent's experienced.)
