This is the one saving grace of Arlovski losing to Sylvia.

I can't wait to see this circus fight. You have the extremely tall striker vs. the short musclebound grappler.

I don't know how much of a chance Monson has but I'll be rooting for him to beat that arrogant prick.

      monson can submit him!

Monson has the power & skill to submit Sylvia, his cardio has always been his downfall, I wouldn't limit his striking abillity either Monson actually (though admittidly in no way a ranked contender) was a professional boxer at the local club level as well.

I thin Monson is set to take this one if he is in shape, but either way the ground game is his, he has to shoot and take sylvia down, but from there it is his.

As long as Monson fights his fight, I think he has a great chance to beat Silvia, if he tries to stand up and slug it out with him, he will be in big trouble. I also agree with rev.jc that he is in danger of gassing out against Silvia who is always in great shape (typical of his camp).

If Monson can keep Silvia on the ground I think he can control the big man and eventually submit him. If he goes toe to toe standing up I expect Silvia to knock him senseless before the 2nd round.

Thats the deal. Monson gets cocky and thinks he can stand with Silvia, and Ive seen Monson do this, he'll get KO'd in the 1st round, no way he makes it 5 minutes taking Silvias blows.
Jeff knows this, will take Silvia down where he owns him, and GNP or submit him. Jeff must be the best grappler over 240lbs around, that guy is something special on the ground, he knows what to do and how to do it and has the brute power to get it done. Nice to see he's getting a shot

He sure is something special on the ground, I watched him at the ADCC and was just in awe of his technical skill and fluidity, his flow of attack is a real amazing thing to see isnt it? I aspire to be a grappler of that caliber someday... I just hope he keeps it on the ground, I would honestly like to see him beat Silvia. He just needs to check his ego at the door and not try to make a "statement" about his stand up.

well its nice to have brute strength, I know how to do many moves but sometimes dont have the strength to do them, how much easier would it be if you were as powerful as that bull?

That is true, he is as strong as a bull. Although his strength is a great weapon, he still shows a tremendous amount of technical skill in his grappling. Given it sure would be nice to be able to have some power like that, I am strong for my size but nothing like he is. Still I would like to see him take Silvia to the ground and show him that power and skill... Go Jeff...

I will be rooting for Monson.

Despite his political beliefs, I respect how he has the guts to to talk about them despite such views being highly unpopular.

I think Monson will become the new Champion, all he needs to do is take Sylvia down, keep him there, pass his guard, and work for a sub.

He still is a pro boxer. I think he's either 5-0 or 6-0 now.

The real throwup of heavyweights is... AA, Verra, and Monson. I think that's the top 3. AA would have easily defeated Sylvia had he just MIXED it up, he could have stood up for the majority of the fight, but worked for the takedown from the clinch or something!

Verra is a beast, and he's one of those guys who's only getting better, and will continue to do so.

Monson... I think he's set to be the top dog right now. We'll see what happens.
